Fellow Democrat,

First of all, thank you once again for being a subscriber to this Newsletter. I hope it gives you goodinformation that you will be able to utilize in your lives.

Secondly, I would like to urge all of you to vote EARLY. Early Voting is from May 14-May 25 with thePrimary Election day being May 29th. It is great to early vote because you do not know what mayarise on or before election day that may prohibit you from making your voice heard.

Finally, I would like to say that this is the final edition of the Candidate Summaries. Each candidatein contested Primary races have had the opportunity to submit summaries as to why you shouldvote for them rather than give support to their opponents. Once again, I hope that the informationhas proved to be of service.

U.S. REPRESENTATIVE (DISTRICT 27) Murphy Alade JunaidRonnie C. McDonaldRose Meza Harrison

Murphy Alade JuanidI was trained as an engineer to solve problems and have solved problems in millions of dollarswith my peers while working at Corpus Christi Army Depot in the past ten years during my tour ofduty. I worked with my peers to define and analyze problems, search for solutions, evaluate eachsolution for cost and benefits, select and implement the best solution and follow up withcontinuous improvement. I am a better candidate over my opponents running for the district 27 congressional seat. Thereare no foolish or stupid ideas among engineers and scientists. If elected as the district 27congressional official, I shall work with the other four hundred and thirty four congressionalofficials to solve the nations’ problem rather than state that an idea is foolish, stupid or dead onarrival. That is the reason why a voter should pick me, Murphy Junaid over my opponents as theelected official for the congressional district 27 seat. Vote for an Engineer and a problem solverfor a change.

Ronnie C. McDonaldI believe I best represent our district 27 because I am the only candidate who has consistentlybalanced a government budget over a dozen times. I am the only candidate with experience atlocal, state and federal level and have demonstrated leadership through being elected fourconsecutive terms to serve as county judge.

My experience shows that I have garnered public trust and ability to work well with a diverse

My experience shows that I have garnered public trust and ability to work well with a diversegroup comprising of 32% Hispanics and 8% African Americans. I have dealt successfully withenvironmental and water issues and have demonstrated the ability to bring independent voters tothe polls to vote Democrat and to work across party, religious and racial barriers to get the jobdone effectively.

Rose Meza HarrisonGrowing up in Benavides, Texas to a large family, I learned early what hard work really means. Ihave worked the fields picking cotton in Alice and have worked in high rises as an attorney.Neither work experience is more valuable than the other. I understand the problems that we arefacing today and promise to fight for everyone in District 27 because they deserve to have avoice from someone who truly recognizes the people they are representing. The Tea PartyRepublicans have continued to push their vision for our country in the same direction that led usinto two wars, a major economic recession and continually threaten to cut public programs andeducation. As always, you will not have to guess where I stand on important Democratic issues. I support anincrease in education funding so that our teachers are adequately paid and students have anopportunity to obtain a college education without going into mountains of debt. I want to protectimportant public programs like Medicare and Medicaid, and strengthen the President’s PatientProtection Act. Unlike my opponents, I support a woman’s right to choose and support publicprograms that provide vital aide to our citizens. I support a sound environmental policy, whichwould mean that projects like Las Brisas must meet federal permitting guidelines, instead ofthreatening the health of families and children. Stand with me and I will stand for you. Jerry J. TrevinoI am a native Texan, of five generations of Texans. My father was a veteran of World War II and, like my mother, was a public school teacher. It was them who instilled within me the value ofeducation, and that was the catalyst for my pursuit of higher education. After obtaining a lawdegree, and an M.B.A., I decided to open up my own law firm, and have been in business for thelast 20 years. Hard work and education are the two values that have allowed me to be successfulin my professional life, and these are the values that I have passed on to my children as well. The GOP-led Congress, has reduced the opportunity for people to be successful in this country. They have reduced Pell Grants, healthcare, and increased tax breaks for the super wealthy. It istime that Congress started focusing on the success of middle class families. Our country needsto create a strong environment for small businesses to grow, and that comes through continuousdevelopment of infrastructure and energy technologies. At the same time, we need to properlyfund successful educational programs that grant opportunities for students to go to college andmake a life of their own. These traditional values have been lost, and I am going to take thesevalues back to Washington.

Sean HubbardI am campaigning on a message called "Texas First" and I'm the only candidate in the field thatrelates to the experiences of everyday Texans, because I'm neither a former lobbyist nor a multi-millionaire. My platform includes a six-step economic plan to foster greater improvement for thelower and middle classes, with a focus on education and tax reform. I also stand in strong supportof a woman's right to choose and reproductive rights.
