This weekend we will be celebrating Mothers’ Day. It is a time to remember what our mothers do for us everyday. Jesus loved his mother Mary and as a child and a man would do anything for her just as she would for him. During this time remember that it is not just the gifts we give but also the actions we make. So try and help wash up, clean up and ensure that mums everywhere have a peaceful and relaxing day. We hope you all have a wonderful weekend and remember make sure you make your mums smile!

The Bike RaceThe bike race is well underway and thank you if you have made an extra effort this week to bike, scoot or walk to school. Our positions at the moment are:

Fun Run Help Still NeededThe annual Fun Run (27th April) will soon be upon us and we are still needing support from the community. If you have a friend or family member that can support this fantastic event then please sign up to our marshall list in the school office. If you enjoy running yourself we would like some adult runners to lead each Year group again if this is something that you can support with please sign up in the office and clearly state “runner” next to your name.

Reading WorkshopsWe will be holding various Reading Workshops for parents to come and learn how to best support and help their child/children with learning to read. Parents are also invited to stay and have lunch with their child/children on this day. Please see the dates below to keep them clear if you want to come along. More information will follow about the timings of the meeting and lunch.

Passover MealOn Thursday, Year 5 and 6 took part in a special Passover meal.

During this meal the children experienced the traditions of the Jewish faith, reminding them that it was at the Passover that Jesus shared the Eucharist with his disciples.

Easter Egg RaffleThank you for all the donations so far look at how many we have had! Please continue donating so that every child has the chance to win an amazing prize. The raffle will be taking place next week and tickets are on sale every day. Please go and see a class member of Year 5 who will be more than willing to help!

Rock Stars Battle of the BandsStarting Friday 29th March and ending 5th April there will be a battle of the bands. During this time children will be competing against a different year group to see who is the best band! So try and get online to get as many points for your year group as possible. WHO WILL BE THE BEST BAND?!

What is the Red Box Project?• We’re a community project set up to provide period products to young people.• We collect donations of period products and new pairs of pants from members of the public and we take them to schools and other youth hubs.• We deliver the items in Red Boxes, which schools keep in a safe place for students who need them.

Who can use a box?

The Red Box Project is a fully inclusive project. We believe all young people deserve equal access to education and that access to period products is essential to this.The box is available to everyone, with no questions asked. No one should miss schoolbecause of their period.

A Message from Network RailDue to the very high level of trespassing on the tracks by young people near to your school/college, we wish to share the relevant safety video with your children before the Easter break, as this is when we consistently see a spike in trespassing. The session is lead by a safety manager from Network Rail and explains in less than 15 minutes why it is really important to stay safe near the tracks.

F.O.S.H. - Friends of Sacred Heart

Friends of Sacred Heart is a charitable organisation that holds a range of events to raise money for our wonderful school. Events include quiz nights, curry nights, beetle bingo, summer and Christmas fairs. The money raised goes towards our children's learning and to improve their school environment. In previous years we have helped pay for play time and lunchtime equipment and subsidise trips for the children.

Sacred Heart 19th Fun Run Saturday 27th April 2019

Every year the fun run is a fantastic school event where we come together to raise funds for our school, get fit and enjoy each other’s company. This is a sponsored run, so that every child in school is invited to participate and raise money for our school by asking for sponsors from their family and friends. We are aiming for “20 is plenty.” Sponsorship forms will be sent home shortly and spares will be available at the school office. There is also a marshalls list at the office if you are able to help on the day please let us know.
