Reception Well what a busy and fun year we have had in Reception!

It’s hard to believe that we have now completed our first year at St

Peter’s. We have been thinking of our special memories and there

are far too many to list.

We have enjoyed some wonderful weather

this term and have had some great learning

outside.

We had fun using mud to create paintings

of the Stick Man and animals.

The firefighters, who are working hard to put the fire out on

Winter Hill, have been regularly coming to use the water hydrant

opposite our playground. We have been very interested in what they

have been doing. We created a special banner for our school fence

to say thank you to them for all their hard work!

Year 1 Year One have had a great Summer term. Magic Grandad has taken

us back in time to the early 1900’s, where we’ve been learning about

home- life, school and toys. It was lots of fun finding out about

some items, such as, a chamber pot and a zoetrope! We really

enjoyed Sports Day, where we showed off our sporting talents! This

half term has been all about birds and plants. We have loved finding

out about birds and drawing our own versions in the style of the

artist Matt Sewell. What a fantastic time we’ve had in Year 1!

St Peter’s in Bloom

A big thank you to all who bought plants this year.

A special thank you once again to Mrs Bowman for

organising this event, which she does willingly

every year. £741.43 was raised this year, which is

amazing. Thank you!!

Year 2 Our time in Key Stage 1 is rapidly coming to an end

but what a lovely Summer Term we have had !

We thoroughly enjoyed our trip to The Macron Stadium where

we learned more about materials in Science, practised athlet-

ics skills and competed at Sports Day. We really enjoyed per-

forming to our supporters at our RE Celebration Assembly all

about celebrating difference and uniqueness and being thank-

ful and proud of who we are. Mrs Lindley thinks we have made

lots of progress and grown up so much during Year 2, that we

are now more than ready for the challenges of Key Stage 2!

Year 3

Year 3 have had a very busy Summer Term. In English and Compu-

ting lessons, we have filmed ourselves reading the news in our own

news teams. The picture shows just some of the fantastic character

models that were made at home so that we could write our own sto-

ries. We also visited the Manchester Science and Industry Museum

and learned lots more about Science. In teams, we designed and

made our own magnetic games which everyone enjoyed playing. We

also visited our friends in Y3 at St Paul’s CE Primary School and had

a wonderful time! We hope everyone has a great Summer!

We have had a great Summer Term with a wonderful trip linked to

our Learning Challenge about the city of Manchester! We went to

The Lowry to learn more about the artist L.S. Lowry. We had two

exciting workshops sketching and 3D modelling led by our artist

for the day. We were all very proud of the Lowry style figures we

created. We have also really enjoyed swimming every Friday at

Smithills High School this last half term. We hope that everyone

has a fabulous summer holiday and see you in September! Well

done Year 4 for a super year!

Year 5

As a fitting end to the Start Project, which commenced in

the Autumn Term, Year 5 attended a a celebration event at

the Light Cinema in Bolton along with pupils from the other

schools involved in the project. During this event, the chil-

dren took part in a mass body percussion exercise led by The

Beat Goes On, made a presentation about their involvement in

the project and listened to the presentations from the other

schools. They were also presented with their Arts Award Dis-

covery Level certificate. The finale of the event was a show-

case film of the whole project and children were both amazed

and thrilled to see themselves on the big screen! The project

demonstrated how the arts can enhance and enrich their

learning and it was fantastic to be a part of. Well done Y5!

Year 6

We cannot believe it; we have reached the end of our primary

school life, but what a way to end. We had a fantastic time at the

Anderton Centre. We spent the morning completing a number of

climbing activities including crate stacking, low ropes and abseiling.

In the afternoon, we built rafts and then tested them out on the

water and then we were allowed some time jumping from the jetty

into the cool reservoir. Thank you so much St Peter’s, it has been

brilliant!

Well done to all Year 6 for their hard work, determination

and the superb results they have achieved this year! We

wish you all much success at high school and send our

thoughts and prayers with you as you move on.
