I was in the UK last week, recruitment, so I missed the Secondary Sports Day. It was very cold and snowed whilst I was

there. I hear it went very well. Well done to all competitors, marshals and organisers. I believe that 27 new records

were made!

Don’t forget that the school is closed for students – all years, on Thursday of this week.

I have just heard that the final approval from SEWA was granted at the end of last week. One more hurdle jumped for

the new building; just final approval to go now. One more month?

Thank you for your support

David Throp, Principal.

Foundation School Trip;

On Thursday 28th

January the children in the Foundation

Stage went on their school trip to Sharjah National Park.

The day started in high excitement as we sang the ‘The

wheels on the bus go round and round’ all the way to

the park. Once we got there, the children quickly

discovered all that the park has to offer. After a busy

morning we all had a lovely picnic. On the way back to

school, the children were pretty tired. However, they

still managed to sing all the way home! A really big

thank you to everyone who helped to make the

children’s school trip such a fun day out.

International Picnic/Flea Market

The International Picnic is scheduled to take place on

25th

February. Please see the flyer at the end of the

newsletter. If you wish to contribute recipes for the

international cookbook, please email your recipes to

Rebecca Ferrari ([email protected]). The Flea

Market will take place on the same day. If your child

wants to sell unwanted toys, etc. he/she can hire a table

for Dhs 20. Tickets for tables can be purchased from the

school office from 31st

January onwards. The Flea

Market is a great opportunity for children to sell toys,

books, games and any other items they no longer want

to keep. The sale should be organized by the children

and not the parents, so please ensure your child is old

enough to take responsibility. The proceeds from the

sale of tickets for the tables will be given to charity.

Sports Day

The Primary Sports Day will take place on Wednesday

10th

February. The day will start with the KS1 Sports Day

followed by KS2. KS1 children will have a picnic after

their Sports Day and will then be allowed to go home.

Mrs. Selina Khan has kindly offered to sell Subway

sandwiches for parents who are staying for both Sports

events.

KS2 Discos

Our KS2 discos are

scheduled for

Wednesday 10th

February. This

year’s theme is

ANIMAL PRINTS.

The teachers will

award prizes for

best costumes and

best dancers.

Tickets for the

disco can be purchased from the School Office. The

price per ticket is Dhs 20 and the school will supply pizza

and a drink for each child.

Timings are as follows:

Years 3 and 4: 5:00pm until 6:30pm

Years 5 and 6: 6:45pm until 8:15pm

Please ensure that your child is collected from inside the

Primary central area promptly at either 6:30pm or

8:15pm. No child should be left unsupervised in the

playground at any time, before, during or after the

disco.

Fun Run and Bake Sale

Well done to everyone who took part in the fancy dress

fun run and bake sale. We are very grateful to Gulftainer

who sponsored the event. We raised a lot of money

which will go to aid the people of Haiti and Water Aid.
