CHANGE TO NEXT TRAINING DAY – our final training day will be Friday 27th June. This is the only day we will be taking. It doesn’t involve the following Monday, so we thought you would appreciate a reminder if this affects your childcare arrangements.

OUR NEXT HOLIDAY – SUMMER HOLIDAY - We break for the summer on Friday 18th July at 3.30 p.m.

STRIKE ALERT - Potentially the 10th of July could be a Strike day. We are not clear at the moment if or how it will affect our ability to keep school open or even if it will actually go ahead. However, we thought you would appreciate being alerted to this possibility so you can plan ahead if needs be. We will keep you informed as soon as we have any more information. As usual we will plan to provide education wherever we can whilst managing the safety of the pupils

WORLD CUP - England versus Costa Rica on Tuesday 23rd June - On Tuesday we will be having World Cup themed lunchtime to show our support for England. We plan to fly our flags and decorate the tables to show our support for England (let’s hope we haven’t been knocked out) our cook has also designed a special themed lunch just to add interest – check out the menu in the notice board.

SPORTS DAYS - Our sports afternoons are scheduled for next week – weather permitting, fingers crossed!! We do hope you can join us out on the school field, for your convenience we will be serving drinks and Miss Hall & co will be running their tombola to support our school funds.

Reception Monday 23rd from 2pmYear 1 & 2 Tuesday 24th from 2pmYear 3 & 4 Wednesday 25th from 2.pm Year 4 & 6 Thursday 26th from 2pm

If you do attend can we kindly remind you NO dogs or pets are allowed on site and smoking is NOT permitted anywhere within the school grounds. Photographs of your own child can be taken for you own personal use. This is entirely difficult for us to police as the vast majority of people utilise their mobile phone as a camera. However we must stress that you must be mindful of other children in any camera shots and under no circumstances must any photos be uploaded to any social media sites or shared across networks. This breaches data protection and if bought to our attention could result in prosecution.

SCHOOL PHOTOGRAPHER - Tempest will be in school on Monday morning taking group and class photos – you want to make sure your child has a comb and is looking smart of this occasion it will be appreciated – especially when the photos arrive!! School uniform must be worn as this is our official school photograph and we are sure you will love them. They will be on sale in the school office at only £5.00

LATE FOR SCHOOL - Unfortunately there has been a rise in the number of children who have been arriving late for school so far this half term. Children who are late miss the vital start to their day with everyone together listening to the teacher, and even a few minutes late every day adds up to hours of missed education. Classroom doors are opened at 8.40am and your child should be in class, ready to start the day by 8.45am. If your child is late for school, for safety reasons it is very important

that an adult brings them into the school reception. This is in case there has been an unexpected school closure or fire drill.

SAFE IN THE SUN - As the warm weather approaches (hopefully) please can you equip your child with a hat suitable for screening the sun and bottle for water – this can be filled at home or at school but a suitable drinking bottle is essential during the warmer weather. On very sunny days you may want to apply some once a day high factor sun screen to the exposed areas of your child as added protection on hot days.

WORLD CUP THEMED FAMILY PICNIC - With the help of our SOS group and possibly more parent support we are hoping to make our annual family picnic a ‘World Cup Event’ by using this as our theme for the day. Ideas were discussed as to how we can make this a special event but we are still open to any suggestions, inspiration or offers of help. If you don’t feel you have the time to be part of our team perhaps you could donate a prize for our raffle or make or donate themed cakes or buns on the day. Watch out for the return of our ‘donation station’ in the playground.

RED POST BOX - We now have a nice Red Post Box in our main entrance - if you have any good ideas for school improvements, comments, compliments or complaints please fill out one of our cards and post it in the box for the attention of the School Governors. Obviously personal issues need to be dealt with through the normal channels but we do appreciate your views and opinions.

UNIVERSAL FREE SCHOOL MEALS - You are probably aware of the Government initiative to fund free school meals for every child from Reception to Year 2 from September. This really does mean that every child in Key Stage 1 will be entitled to a free lunch every day. The current changes to our lunch time arrangements are in preparation for this as we anticipate that the vast majority of parents will take up this offer and would be foolish not to. However it is not compulsory and you still have the option to send your child with a packed lunch from home. If this is your intention would you kindly call into the school office and let them know this will assist us greatly in ensuring are organised for this new initiative.

IN THE PLAYGROUND – We would ask that you make sure your child is with you at the beginning

and end of the school day. We have has numerous incidents lately of ‘lost’ children, where they have run away from parents. Although they are still on school property, the parents have been worried as the school yard gets very full. Please make sure you know where your child is, to save yourself the trauma.

Parents of children in Year 6 are invited into the school hall at 3.30 p.m. to ask any questions they may have. It is not envisaged that the meeting will last very long, so please come along.

TOMBOLA & RAFFLE PRIZES – We are asking for donations of prizes for our Tombola and Raffle for after the half-term.
