Each appli- cation must have at least one academic partner and one commu- nity partner. Applicants can receive up to $20,000 for a one-year funding period. New or developing academic-community teams can apply for a Partnership Development Grant of up to $5,000 to support their preliminary research activities focused on health outcomes and impact. For both programs, Letters of Intent (strongly encouraged, not required) are due November 15, 2017. Feedback will be provid- ed by December 6. Final proposals are due January 15, 2018. Read more —–—— The Community Leaders Institute is an 8-session leadership de- velopment training program offered over 5 consecutive weeks in February-March, 2018. The goal is to build research and leader- ship skills that the individual can use to improve or develop a health program. Participants receive a small grant ($1,000- $1,500) and have the opportunity to apply the skills learned to a health-related project (to be completed over the next 12 months). Featured presenters are Elaine Morrato, DrPH, MPH, associate dean for public health practice, Colorado School of Public Health, University of Colorado and Kathleen Walsh, MD, MSc, director of patient safety research, James M. Anderson Center for Health Systems Excellence, Cincinnati Childrens. It takes, on average, nearly two decades to translate clinical re- search innovation into practice, and even then the uptake of new evidence is uneven. The field of dissemination and implementa- tion (D&I) science focuses on accelerating the translational pro- cess through deliberate application of social science frameworks and theories. Presenters will include investigators, com- pliance experts, and representatives from Academic Health Cen- ter (AHC) affiliates and the Consortium of Greater Cincinnati IRBs (CGCI). Learn how to develop successful collaborative research projects, identify new research partners, and reduce redundancies in IRB review of research conducted outside of the AHC. The CGCI col- laborative IRB agreement allows any of its member sites to serve as the IRB of record for human subjects research conducted across multiple participating study sites. Core writing teams were assem- bled over the summer, and a kickoff event and survey for CCTST members yielded valuable input this fall. An External Advisory Committee (EAC) of representatives from peer institutions meets in Cincinnati November 30-December 1 to review Center progress and future plans. Major proposal compo- nents designed to advance the field of clinical and translational science include workforce development; collaboration/ engagement; integration across disciplines/lifespan; methods/ processes; and informatics.
