Press Release Official launch of the exciting new Connecting Learners in the
3rd Sector (North & Mid Wales) lifelong learning project to take
place in the Centre for Alternative Technology near
Machynlleth on Thursday 31st March 2011.
Fun, free and fascinating learning for people working in the third sector
The Connecting Learners in the 3rd Sector project will hold its official launch
on March 31st 2011 from 11.30am to 3.30pm. The Project is organised by the
public service union Unison, hosted by 3rd sector social care provider Cartrefi
Cymru Cyf. and funded through the Wales Union Learning Fund (WULF). It
provides literacy, numeracy, IT and confidence training to the fantastic people
that work and volunteer with charities, community groups, co-operatives and
not-for-profit social enterprises.
A celebration of learning in a wonderful location
The launch is free to attend and will bring together 3rd sector organisations,
learning providers and other partners in the lifelong learning community from
across the region at the beautiful new Wales Institute for Sustainable
Education at the Centre for Alternative Technology near Machynlleth, Powys.
Keynote speakers on the day are due to include:
Paul O’Shea, General Secretary of Unision Cymru/Wales;
Adrian Roper, Chief Executive of Cartrefi Cymru;
The launch will also feature live performances of original works in English and
Welsh from local poet, Rhys Trimble, as well as great stories about how
improving skills and learning something new can change people’s lives for the
better.
