IQAC NEWS LETTER
A-Zone Inter Collegiate Volleyball Championship
The College hosted the A Zone inter collegiate Volley ball championship on 16th and 18th Sept. 2015. Thirty two colleges under the Calicut University participated in it and our College became winners of the Championship. In the Inter zone tournament that followed also, the team became the winners bringing laurels to the college.
Orientation Program for First Semester UG Students
The college organized the orientation program for first semester UG students on 22nd and23rd Sept. 2015. In the said program all the rules and regulations to be followed in the College campus were imparted to the freshers and along with that a brief introduction about the various clubs and committees functioning in the college, their aims, objectives etc. were explained to the students. They were introduced to the facilities available in the college too, like the library, gymnasium and computer cum reprographic centre.
Merit Evening and Guru Pooja
The Alumni Association of the college ‘Mazhavilkalam’ conducted a program to honour the meritorious students and former faculty members of the college. The chief guest was Mr. Mathew, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Calicut. Many former students and their family members participated in the program.
Hindi Day
The Hindi day was celebrated in the college on 30th September 2015 with various programs. Competitions were held in the college to mark the day.
Merit Evening
The Botany department organized a merit evening to felicitate the top rank holders of the department on 1/10/2015. Students who had won various scholarships were also honoured on this occasion.

students for their active involvement in the enrichment activities. The
words of Sree Narayana Guru, “Educate, and Liberate” continue to inspire
and guide us.
he Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) has been trying to “develop a Tquality system for conscious, consistent
and catalytic programmed action to improve the academic and administrative performance” of the institution for the last few months. This has started yielding results as evidenced by the programmes the students and faculty have organized in the last quarter. The IQAC will continue to "develop and apply quality benchmarks for the various academic and administrative activities” in the coming years too.

On 14th Oct. 2015 staff members organized a program to felicitate the NSS awardees and the outstanding cadet of NCC. Ms Anusmitha, Ms.Remya and other members of NSS were honoured. The NCC Cadet Kum. Ananda. R Dev, BSc Maths student was also felicitated for participating in the Republic Day Parade.
The college Union was inaugurated on 16th Oct. 2015 by the Balussery MLA Purushan Kadalundy. The inauguration was followed by the showcasing of the talents of students.
Seminar on Capital Punishment, Judiciary and Human Rights
The Human Rights Forum conducted a seminar on Capital Punishment, Judiciary and Human Rights on 20th Oct.2015. The Social Activist Mr. KT Kunhikannan, gave the Key note address.
Swach Bharath Abhiyan
The NCC cadets of the college cleaned the areas surrounding the college campus as part of the Swach Bharath Abhiyan project on 21st Oct.2015.

Mr. Devaraj Calicut, Mazhavil Manorama Comedy Fest Fame was the Chief Guest on the Occasion
On 5th Oct.2015 the college volleyball team who became the champions of A- zone inter collegiate volleyball tournament and inter zone volley ball tournament was given a grand reception by the college union. On the same day, the RDC and staff association also organized a program to felicitate the winners of the two championships.

Seminar on NAAC Grading and Accreditation
The IQAC organized a seminar on NAAC Grading and Accreditation for the faculty members at 3.30 pm on 5th Oct 2015. The IQAC Coordinator Ms. J Maya Devi led the class using PPT slides
Class on Feedback Analysis
The IQAC conducted a class on Feedback Analysis on 13th Oct.2015 for faculty members in which the resource persons Ms. Joobi anf Ms. Jeothilakshmi explained how the feedbacks collected from the students could be analyzed and how toarrive at conclusions about the performance of a teacher.

The Chemistry department in association with Boomithrasena Club organized a seminar on ‘Current Environmental Issues’ on 9th Dec. 2015. Mr. Sudheesh Parathakkatt was the main speaker.
Visit to Nanma Special School
The NCC cadets of the college visited the Nanma Special School and organized an NCC Day Run program to mark the NCC day celebrations on 21st and 22nd of Nov. 2015.
‘Constitutional Values and Ambedkar’s Legacy’
The Human Rights Forum of the college organized a seminar on ‘Constitutional Values and Ambedkar’s legacy” on 26th Nov.2015. Dr. J Prasad, Former Vice Chancellor, Kaladi Sree . Shankaracharya university was the Key note speaker of the day.
AIDS Awareness Campaign
The college observed the Aids Day by organizing a silent procession to the Chelannur AKKR Higher Secondary School holding placards with slogans indicating causes of the deadly disease. They also urged for added awareness about the disease to prevent it.
Sivagiri Pilgrimage
The NSS units of the college engaged in cleaning and painting the areas around the campus and also cultivating vegetables to mark their support to Sivagiri Pilgrimage on 31st Dec 2015.

Observance of Sankar’s Day
Sankar’s day was observed in a befitting manner in the college in association with the other educational institutions in the campus. Adv. P M Ramesh Babu was the resource person . All the staff and students assembled for the programme and paid homage to Shri. R Sankar, the founder Manager of SN Trusts.
Anti- Narcotics Seminar
Anti- Narcotics Day was observed on 12th Nov. 2105 with a seminar on the Abuse of narcotics. An Oath against the use of Narcotic drugs, tobacco and alcohol was taken by the students . Prof. Raveendran and Prof. Chinnamma, Retd. Professors and social activists addressed the students on this occasion.

Under the aegis of the Sasthra Sahithya Parishath, a seminar ‘Sasthra’ was organized in the college on 6th Nov.2015. Mr. Jafar delivered the Keynote address.

A Haemoglobin detection camp was organized on 4th Nov. 2015 and iron supplement distributed to those found anaemic. Students and people in the locality were beneficiaries of the camp and the distribution of iron tablets which was done as a follow up mechanism. Many students became less anaemic after the regular intake of iron tablets. The programme was organized in collaboration with the Taluk Hospital, Balussery
