Since Mary was the instrument through which God entered our world, she is also

the instrument through which ALL grace comes. She is the instrument of all that

resulted from the Incarnation. Therefore, she is the Mediatrix of Grace!

In other words, Mary’s act of mediation for the Incarnation was not just some

historical act that took place long ago. Rather, her motherhood is something that is

continuous and eternal. It is a perpetual motherhood of the Saviour of the world

and is a perpetual instrumentality of all that comes to us from this Saviour.

God is the source, but Mary is the instrument. She is the instrument because God

wanted it this way. She can do nothing by herself, but she doesn’t have to do it by

herself. She is not the Saviour. She is the instrument.

As a result of this, we must see her role as glorious and essential in the eternal plan

of salvation. Devotion to her is a way of simply acknowledging what is true. It’s not

just some honour we bestow upon her by thanking her for cooperating with God’s

plan. Rather, it’s an acknowledgment of her continual role of mediation of grace

in our world and in our lives. https://catholic-daily-reflections

This whakatauki is about aiming high or for what is truly valuable, but its real message is to be persistent and don't let obstacles stop you from reaching your goal. Tihei mauri ora!

I wish to commend the students who, with so many different commitments both at school and away, have faithfully attended, and even when they were unwell, wished they could be here and not let the cast down. With sports, personal hobbies such as dance, wearable arts and outside kapahaka group commitments, they keep their eye on the prize and made us all proud.

We look forward to visiting the mountain tomorrow after two weeks of setback and as we bask in the glow of this week, let’s spare a thought for the children of Barcelona killed or who lost parents in the recent terrorist attack. Let’s give thanks to the Lord for new life and we congratulate Libby and Ryan on the birth of a dear little brother for Charlie, baby Jack.

SPECIAL CHARACTER

QUEENSHIP OF THE BLESSED VIRGIN MARY

August 22 is the Feast of The Immaculate Heart of Mary, Traditional Calendar and

the Queenship of Mary, the New Calendar. October 11 is the Feast of the Divine

Maternity, both calendars and the Queenship of Mary, Traditional Calendar.

On October 11 1954, Pope Pius XII established the Feast of the Queenship of Mary to

be celebrated throughout the world, and commanded that on that day each year, the world should renew its

consecration to her. Eventually the Feast came to be celebrated on August 22.

"The purpose of the Feast is that all may recognise more clearly and venerate more devoutly the merciful

and motherly sovereignty of she who bore God in her womb" (Ven. Pius XII, Ad. Coeli Reginam).

On the day of her Assumption, Mary our Mother was solemnly crowned by Christ and received by the whole

court of Heaven as Queen.

What Christ has done in Heaven and the Church has done on our behalf we should now do individually, that

is, we should recognise Mary's Queenship, enthrone her in our homes, consecrate ourselves to her and, by

this means, establish in our lives the reign of Mary Immaculate Queen of the Universe.

A statue or picture may be blessed; if convenient, ask a priest to perform the ceremony, otherwise the head

of the family can do it. Prepare her altar with flowers and candles, giving her an honoured place in your

home where all will see her and often pray to her. http://www.catholictradition.org/Mary/queenship-mary.htm

We went on the art hikoi and we had a fantastic time. We had to find out things like the name of the king on the sign, who threw the hat and why was the tree of light made? By Chloe Porter. We are learning about sharks. We are drawing our own shark pictures and doing lots of activities about sharks. We really enjoyed the art walk and this morning we played soccer. By Maysen Hepi.

ART HIKOI We all went on a hikoi to see the art of Taumarunui. This cultural walk took in the murals and galleries of our town, and everyone had a wonderful time looking in detail at the work of some of our amazing artists. We were even able to meet some of them! More photos on Facebook.

Netball What a great St Pat's season for netball, ending with a gripping finals day on Saturday. All players have given their all with great results. As the play came to a close on Saturday, there were special celebrations for the St Pat's Clovers, as coach Tracy Fife said: "Opening Day C Grade Winners, Second Round C Grade Winners. Championship Round C Grade Runners Up - I'm so proud of my Clovers!" The Breakers finished 6th in their grade and they had a great season too. Pictured are the Clovers in celebratory mood, minus poor Grace Van Orden who missed the end of the season after breaking her arm, but still came along to support her team mates

Equality Rules at Cross Country The St Pat’s Cross Country will take place on Tuesday 12

September, postponed to the following day if the weather is against us. We will run our event at Taumarunui High School. In a change to previous years, the Central King Country Principals’ Association has decided that girls will run the same distance as boys, but still in separate races. This means that except for the midgets, girls will run 500m further than they have run previously. Taumarunui Inter-School Cross Country will be held at Ongarue School on Tuesday 26 September with a postponement date of Thursday 28 September. It will go ahead on the Tuesday unless the weather is really stormy or cold.

Youth Sports Event Taumarunui’s youth council has

organised a day-long sports tournament taking place on Sunday 24 September from 9am at Taumarunui High School. To register as a team of five in either the U13 or 13+ competitions, return your entry form by 15 September. The cost is $5 per player. For a registration form, contact the Taumarunui Ruapehu District Council office.

RUAPEHU ART AWARDS The Ruapehu Art Awards will again be held this year during Labour Weekend from 19 to the 25 October. This is a community event that highlights art in the community as well as being an art competition open to all artists New Zealand wide. The goal is to encourage art and artists in the area and it is hoped that it will put Taumarunui on the map as a location where you can find original art with its own unique flavour. If you are an artist yourself or know of an artist who might like to enter the Ruapehu Art Awards, please follow this link to enter: http://riversartgallery.co.nz/ruapehu-art-awards-entry/ or https://form.jotform.co/71837734570867 The fee is $20 per entry and children are free!
