What have we been doing this week? This week we have been learning about being healthy. We have been investigating healthy and unhealthy food items, and how to keep ourselves healthy, such as brushing our teeth, washing our hands. During numeracy we have been looking at different shapes in our environment and the size, colour and texture of some of our favourite fruit. We made a chart of all our favourite fruits to see which fruits everyone likes best. The children have enjoyed retelling and recreating the story of Handa’s surprise this week. We have also been learning how to sequence stories by remembering the order of events that happened when Handa went to visit her friend. Numeracy Activity:

You will need: Paper, camera (optional), pencil, colours.

Go on a shape hunt around the home. What shapes can you find?

Take a picture of the shapes or attempt to draw some of the shapes you see.

You will need: Handa’s surprise work sheet, (attached at end of this newsletter) glue

and scissors.

Listen to the story of Handa’s surprise using the link below.

Together with your child retell the story of Handa’s surprise.

Cut and sequence the pictures.

Can you think of an alternative ending?

What would have happened if the animals had not eaten the fruit?

Remember:

You should be guided by the pace at which your child wants to go. If interest is being

lost, leave the activities for a while and then come back to them later.

Do remember to give lots of praise and encouragement.
