1. The number of registered GUCCU member University (The Global University China Career Union) has risen to 264. More than 80,000 overseas students have used their exclusive China Portal to apply for positions.

2. 2019 Lockin 80 Days Event has started. Lockin team has just finished more than 20 workshops with Chinese session and English session in Australia. More details and information, please read the following passage.

3. GUCCU aims to improve services and strengthen cooperation with global GUCCU members. GUCCU has is now finally to ready to evolve from GUCCU (Global University China Career Union) focusing mainly on the Chinese market to GUCCU (Global University Central Career Union) - providing comprehensive resources and guidance of the global market.

5. Lockin China – the first and the largest overseas recruitment platform is now slowly transforming into Lockin U. Lockin U is a global version of Lockin China. Focusing on the global recruitment, providing a platform for talents that would like to touch the global market. Lockin’s global partner engagement team is establishing a strategy partnership with global recruitment platform in India, Malaysia, Korea etc.

6. LockinGo system – a systematism learning programme, aiming to help students to best target their internship, is now open for all GUCCU member universities to trial.

CHINA JOB MARKET The resume screening system

In 2019, the number of Chinese graduates with undergraduate level and above is expected to reach 8.34 million, and the number of returned overseas talents is excepted to be close to 800,000. Young talents with overseas educational background may return with advanced knowledge, but statistics show that domestic graduates would get 3-5 offers on hand before

they graduate, while most of returnees only start job-seeking after coming back to China and receive the first offer within 3 months. From years of recruitment experience, it could be identified that most overseas talents are not familiar with the resume screening system which is widely adopted by Chinese employers. Due to the great number of applicants, Chinese employers would prefer to use resume screening system to find the candidates who meet their demands, since the system would be time-saving and labor-saving. With such system, HRs would input some key words, like the year of graduation and professional abilities, to look for potential candidates, and applicants who are lack of the conditions may have fewer possibilities to go to the next stage. We GUCCU witness that there are many overseas talents who meet employers’ demands didn’t pass the system, because they are not familiar with the system and didn’t fill in those key words. Therefore, we would not only share with students resume writing-skills in our workshops, but design a qualified format in the resume system of our partner Lockin, and students could use LockinU APP to raise competitiveness.

With LockinU APP, students can follow the steps and create their own resumes which are able to pass the resume screening system. Meanwhile, LockinU APP provides candidates with Global Competitive Index to help them improve resumes. The Global Competitive Index is based on talent data from over 1,000 global universities, demand from more than 30,000 companies, hundreds of successful overseas recruiting projects Lockin has done, and hundreds of thousands of matching records between applicants and employers. Based on the resources and weighted the contents in resumes, the final Global Competitive Index will be provided to talents.

GLOBAL JOB MARKET Due to the facts like visa policy and immigration policy, the majority of international students would have to leave the country after their graduation. However, different countries or regions have different recruitment schedules throughout a year. Generally speaking, each country has two recruiting seasons, but companies would usually pay more attention to one period. For instance, Chinese employers would usually start on-campus recruitment one year before students’ graduation and post most positions during autumn, while for the spring recruitment in the next year, some companies would only post positions which are left by autumn. In the contrary, employers from South Korea would pay more attention to spring recruitment, since most of Korean domestic students would graduate at that time. Also, if candidates apply during Spring, they would also have to pass an 8-week internship to get the final interview invitation.
