New Years Eve
VALENTINE’S DAY
PAGE 12
MESSAGE
I’ll start by wishing every one of our members and their families, a Merry Christmas and a Safe and Happy New Year!By the time this newsletter is received by you, the members, the Club AGM and Annual Children’s Christmas Party would have both occurred. At the time of writing there were 400+ children registered for the Christmas Party. The Clubs are also ramping up with promotions, the Major Car and Cash promotion has been completed, and commencing now are our Ham raffles, Christmas raffles and New Year’s Eve.After sometime in discussion around the Boardroom, the Directors and Management have arranged a trial of a door to door pickup service from November until February. The cost will be $5 per person with a maximum of $10 for a group of up to four being picked up/dropped off at one address. Initially the service will operate Friday and Saturday from 5pm. To arrange your ride to the Club/s phone the Alroy Park Club on 6573-2888, then when you’re at either Club approach the reception area to arrange your ride home. Please be patient with all staff involved as we trial and when necessary change items to improve the service. In closing thank you for supporting your Clubs in 2019 and I look forward to seeing you all again in 2020.
Darcey Dennis – Chairman
Fellow MembersAs Members reflect on the 2019 year, one may have mixed emotions from the loss of loved ones, the birth of a child, grandchild, a marriage, graduation, completion of a Trade Course, the Roosters winning back to back Rugby League Grand Finals, Richmond winning the AFL and Australia retaining the Ashes. Many parts of Australia are affected by this terrible drought and now as Summer approaches, bush fires are taking a toll with many houses lost and communities experiencing the worst fires on record. Australia is known as a land of opportunity but I think it is a land full of volunteers, especially the Rural Fire Service men and women and other emergency services at these difficult times.Locally, on a positive note, we witness an upturn in the mining industry, with the flow on effect to the business community.Chairman John (Darcey) Dennis has already mentioned the successful Annual Children’s Christmas Party at Rugby Park. I would like to place on record the Clubs sincerest thanks to the Singleton Rugby, the Rotary Club of Singleton on Hunter, Singleton Apex, Club Staff and Directors plus volunteers for making the day such a success. The change of venue resulted in near record levels of attendees. At the recent Annual General Meeting, Doug White (EJE Architects) presented conceptual plans for a make-over at York Street, with the total support of your Board of Directors. As Singleton celebrates its anniversary next year with a series of celebrations we too can look forward to a make-over at the York Street facility, should the concept become a reality. With Christmas quickly approaching I ask you to spare a thought for those suffering from drought, the bush fire, the numerous emergency service personnel and the Rural Fire Service and those who cannot celebrate Christmas Day with families. In closing may I wish members and your families a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year and may 2020 be a great year for all Members and the local community as we celebrate Singleton’s Anniversary.
