month. On the it was 8m5; on the 7th, 8Y7; on the 1Vh, 9mz; on the 9m3. In making these estimates I have employed as comparison stars BD. +37?2737 and +38?2739 , and 2746, assigning to them the respective magnitudes of 8 .9 , 9.3 and 8.3.

A variable star whose place for 1855 is RA. = 2 1 ~ 5 7 m 8 Decl. = 1-34O 2.5’

is at present at or near a maximum. It has a period of seven months. At maximum it is midway in brightness be- tween BD. +34?4595 and 4596, the magnitudes of which may be estimated as 9 .9 and 9.1. By the time it has

reached a minimum, it is surpassed not only by 4595 but also by a 1om5 star which lies about 3‘ to the n. p. of 4596, and it has then become only 0912 brighter than a n r i m 0 star which lies a little to the following side of a straight line joining the variable to the 10m5 star just men- tioned. This variable is, i t may be stated, not one of the BD. stars.

Bellamy in the Monthly Notices of the Royal Astro- nomical Society.*) These stars were put on our working list and two observations apiece secured as follows.
