TBOS-II™ Control Module

The TBOS-II™ Control Module provides automatic irrigation in the absence of a mains supply. Ideal for municipal applications such as urban parks, road and motorway landscaping and construction projects, it provides a durable solution for maintaining irrigation when no electricity supply is available. It is powered by a single 9 volt battery.

Without push buttons, provided with a double-sealed battery compartment and pre-wired stations, the TBOS-II Control Module is fully submersible. It has been designed to withstand the toughest conditions and to be installed directly in the valve manhole. Available in 1, 2, 4 or 6 station, it is now provided with orange pre-wiring for a pump relay or master valve (except for the 1 station model).

The programming of the new TBOS-II™ Control Modules has been enhanced with new functions to help you limit your water consumption (monthly or programmed Water Budget, Rain Delay, etc.) and limit on-site operation time.

The TBOS-II™ Control Module is exclusively programmable by the TBOS-II Field Transmitter using a resin-protected infrared connector.

TBOS-II™ Radio Adaptor

The TBOS-II™ Radio Adaptor is the simple and quick way to convert any TBOS™ or TBOS-II™ control module, regardless of its capacity (1, 2, 4 or 6 stations) to a TBOS-II™ Radio-Programmable Control Module.

It is also fully sealed and is powered by a 9 volt battery. When connected to a TBOS-II™ Control Module it enables the information sent by the TBOS-II™ Field Transmitter to be received by radio. Connected to a first-generation TBOS™ Module, the TBOS-II™ Radio Interface Unit enhances the functionality of the TBOS™ Control Module.

TBOS-II™ Field Transmitter

The new design of the TBOS-II™ Field Transmitter offers you a new navigation interface. The circular menu, based on icons, has been replaced with a simple tree diagram and clearly written texts.

Rain Bird TBOS-II™ Programming System

Exactly what you want. Only what you need.

New TBOS-II™ functionality - putting the spotlight on

Quicker programming

Using the Template Programs

function, you can save up to three

program models in your transmitter.

This will save time on site by quickly

sending the right program to the

modules.

Saving water and timeTo suspend irrigation, you can switch from

Automatic mode to OFF mode. However,

if the suspension is only temporary, the

new Rain Delay function enables you to

suspend irrigation for 1 to 14 days and

switch back automatically to Automatic

mode at the end of this countdown.

Time saving and accuracy

of programs

The TBOS-II™ system also offers the option of

storing up to three programs in the control

module, as well as the current irrigation

program. There are many possible uses: for

example, you can manually replace the current

program with one of the saved programs

which are more appropriate for the season,

or request that this replacement is made

automatically within a period of 1 to 90 days

(useful for a sowing program which only lasts

for a few weeks). Here again, there is no longer

any need to change your location in order to

modify the current program.

Accuracy of programs, saving water and time Seasonal adjust allows you to adjust your

irrigation times on a monthly basis: if you irrigate

for 15 minutes in June (100%) you can program

an individual weighting of your watering for

each month, for example 60% in April to irrigate

for 9 minutes only, 80% in May to irrigate for

12 minutes, and 120% in July to irrigate for 18

minutes, and so on.The monthly adjust can be combined with a

Water Budget for each program (in this case,

they are cumulative).

ACCeSSORIeS

TBOS solenoids

TBOS™ pulse Solenoids must be fitted on

the solenoid valves connected to the TBOS™

or TBOS-II™ control modules. They can be

mounted on Rain Bird LFV, JTV, DV, PGA, PEB

and BPE valves.

TBOS control relay

The TBOS™ control relay can be used to start

an electrical device from a TBOS™ or TBOS-

II™ control module. It is easy to install and can

be used to control lighting or a fountain, for

example.

RSD-Bex rain sensor

The RSD-Bex rain sensor measures rainfall

automatically, and shuts off the irrigation

system if it rains. The RSD-Bex rain sensor

can be connected to any TBOS™ or TBOS-II™

controller.

If the TBOS-II™ modules are centrally controlled

with the IQ v2 software, you can specify

whether or not to assign each valve to the

sensor.

Flow sensor

When TBOS™/TBOS-II™ modules are centrally

controlled with the IQ software, the yellow

connection loop of a sensor can accept a pulse

meter (dry contact type). This option is available

on TBOS-II™ modules only. Consumption is

retrieved by the IQ software every 12 hours.

Vandal-resistant

The TBOS™ and TBOS-II™ controllers have no push buttons, to ensure private secure access for programming. This feature in fact reduces their attractiveness to potential thieves. All the programming functions are provided remotely in the transmitter which is kept exclusively by the site administrator(s).

Because of their robust design, the TBOS™ and TBOS-II™ controllers and radio interface units can be positioned directly in the valve manhole. Adding a TBOS-II™ Radio

easy installation - Maximum flexibility

With the TBOS-II™ system you can set up an automatic plot irrigation system without a power supply in just a few minutes. It can be installed without a power cable, and therefore with a minimum of trenches.

Fully sealed, the control module is designed to be positioned directly in the valve manhole - no need for a housing or shelter.

How about upgrading to radio communication? It only takes a few seconds to connect a TBOS-II™ Radio Adaptor to your modules and convert them to radio controllers. The previously installed TBOS™ or TBOS-II™ modules can be retained, without any rewiring.

Retro-compatibility

The TBOS-II™ Field Transmitter is compatible with all generations of TBOS™ controllers. So previous users of the TBOS™ system can control all of their TBOS™ Controllers with a single TBOS-II™ Transmitter in Infrared communication mode.

Similarly, the TBOS-II™ Field Transmitter can be used to program all generations of TBOS™ controllers (from 1999 onward) by radio, if they are fitted with TBOS-II™ Radio Adaptor.

Reasons for installing a TBOS-II™ irrigation system…• Lower installation costs compared with a

conventional 24 V controller: no mains supply, no cable runs, no housing required for installing the controller.

• Less vandalism : the reduced attractiveness of a TBOS™/TBOS-II™ module which is separated from the transmitter and the secrecy of radio transmission have made the TBOS™ System the market leader for urban locations.

• Flexibility : a few modules or hundreds, with or without radio or sensing options, remote or local control - define your needs according to your budget and vary them over time.

• Fewer operations on site : new intelligent functions mean that you do not need to keep returning to the same site, and will also save programming time.

• Control of water consumption : even without central control, the new functionalities of TBOS-II™ will enable you to limit wastage.

Do you occasionally need a longer transmissionrange?

A TBOS Radio Relay can be positioned between the

TBOS-II™ Field Transmitter and a TBOS™ or TBOS-II™

controller (fitted with a TBOS-II™ Radio Interface Unit), to

increase the communication range between the two

devices. TBOS Radio Relays can be used outside any

central control scheme to help you communicate with a

controller which is difficult to access (because of a main

road or various obstacles).

CeNTRAL CONTROL

Central Control of TBOS™ and TBOS-II™ controllers using IQ2 software

You can control all your TBOS™ or TBOS-II™ controllers from a central computer.

The IQ2 software is the first central irrigation control software which can control both conventional ESP-LXME controllers and ESP-LXD decoder controllers, as well as TBOS™ and TBOS-II™ battery-operated controllers.

Create your own TBOS network for simpler programming!

When you have the IQ central control software and the optional TBOS software feature pack, you can use any of your ESP-LX controllers as the base for your TBOS network. The TBOS IQ Master Radio Module installed in the controller receives information from the central PC and transmits it to the on-site TBOS™/TBOS-II™ controllers via radio (no licence needed). If the range is too short, TBOS Radio Relays can be positioned on site to relay radio communications over several kilometres.

From the central computer, you can remotely perform all the operations that can be carried out from the transmitter.Central control with the IQ v2 software enables you to remotely control the parameters and programming of the TBOS™/TBOS-II™ modules, while also enhancing their functionality, for example by adding flow metering or suspension of irrigation on a specified day of the year (Calendar Day-OFF).

Water Management to meet your needs

The design of the TBOS-II IQ system is based on the principle of Intelligent Use of Water™.

Monthly seasonal adjust, Water Budget for each program, Rain Delay, flow sensing, and the use of a master valve or rain sensor are all tools provided by the TBOS-II system for limiting your water consumption.

The modular design of IQ v2.0, ESP-LX series controllers and TBOS-II controllers makes it easy for you to add new functionality, radio communication, stations, controllers and even sites at low cost over a period of time.

Create your own system according to your needs and your budget, and develop it to respond to every challenge.

Adaptor gives you the option of communicating with the controller in complete secrecy, without opening the manhole.

Where can a battery-operated controller be used?l Wherever there is no power supply available, regardless of whether the

installation is temporary or permanent.

l En an urban setting it is ideal for irrigating roundabouts, median strips, and small municipal green spaces.

l Heavily used public areas where a high degree of secrecy is essential.

l All municipal or private applications, including multiple small sites.

Where should you use the radio communication option?l Sites requiring a high degree of secrecy, where valve manholes may be

concealed under lawns or decorative chippings.

l Sites with difficult or dangerous access, where programming must be carried out remotely.

l Sites controlled remotely by a central control system to save water and time.
