Development of Provision
Bradford is committed to develop a continuum of
specialist provision to meet the complex needs of the
District’s children and young people.
Recent and on-going developments are taking place in

Funding
Education funding will be made up of two elements:
The per-pupil place element - £10,000
+
Top up funding at Range 6 to Range 7 £13,910 to £22,857 (see Bradford Funding Matrix)
The range funding allocation will be decided by the multi-agency
placement panels, based on individual needs.

Free school competition launched nationally August 2017
Local launch of the free school competition 9th July 2018
Sponsor Engagement Event 12th July 2018 (1pm – 3pm) and
26th September 2018 (1pm – 3pm)
Closing date for any potential sponsors to submit
their application to run the free school 9th November 2018 (midday)
DfE, Regional Schools Commissioner(RSC) and
Bradford to evaluate submitted applications &
determine preferred sponsor/s
Mid November 2018
Bradford to interview shortlisted sponsor/s End November 2018
DfE and Bradford to determine preferred sponsor Early December 2018
New provider of Special School announced Early January 2019
