Here we are and it’s fall already. Summer flowers are fading, leaves are changing colors, crops are harvested, and sweaters are coming out of storage. I’m ambivalent about fall. On the one hand, I love the beautiful colors, the crispness in the air, the smells of wood smoke and cinnamon, wearing blue jeans and sweat shirts. On the other hand, I dread the loss of sunshine, the shorter days and the certainty of winter. I love summer; the sunshine, the warmth, the long, lazy days. There is hope in sunshine. I find comfort in warmth. Peace pervades those long, lazy days. All seems right in the world. Life is easy and comfortable. As I think about this changing of seasons from summer to fall, it brings to mind the changes in my own life as a Christian. I love those ‘summer’ sea-sons of peace and ease, when God and I are in sync and life is coasting along without a care, when worship is easy and prayer is effective. I bask in the absolute certainty that He is with me and He is blessing my life. But inevitably, those ‘fall’ seasons come. Suddenly, I’m ambivalent. I have those days when it seems I’ve hit a bump in the path. Things begin to feel a little less sure, my walk with the Lord seems a little out of step. The sunshine fades and I feel the coolness of heartache or regret, darkness creeps in and burdens seem heavier. A winter season looms. My peace through the fall seasons is this: Just like God uses the changing seasons to renew and restore the earth, I know he’s renewing and restoring me. He is using those bumps, heartaches, and burdens to bring forth the color in my life. He is refining me as gold, re-moving the impurities, making me stronger and more brilliant so that I might be beautiful for Him. He is the Master Creator! He knows just what I need to endure to bring forth His glory in my life, that I might shine with the beauty of His countenance. I pray the colors of fall with be brilliant in my life! ~But He knows the way that I take; when he has tested me, I will come forth as gold. ~Job 23:10 Upcoming Events: Planning meeting: Sunday, October 12th, 5 pm in Room 3. Hey Kids!

I LOVE FALL! There, I said it; I do love this time of year. Leaves changing to those beautiful fall colors, the cool crisp air in the mornings, pumpkins and mums sitting on the front porch, pumpkin spiced coffee, roasting marshmallows and hot dogs over an open fire, making s’mores, and the list goes on. This time of year is probably my favorite. To me fall means a time of reflection. It means the year is quickly wrapping up, and I am thankful for each and every one of you that I have got to share Jesus with in Kid’s Church.

WEEKLY SERVICES Sunday Services: Sunday School 9:30 am Morning Worship 10:30 am Evening Service 6:00 pm Wednesday evening 6:30 pm

THANKS A MILLION . . . To our PrimeTimers who turned out in support of “See You at the Pole” at Portland West Middle School, on Wed., Sept. 24, at 6:30 AM, and helped make it a big success by serving doughnuts and juice to the stu-dents who showed up for the prayer event. Observed annually, “See You at the Pole” is a nationwide event of student-led prayer around the school’s flagpole prior to class time. At least 120 students participated at Portland West-because that’s the number of doughnuts we served! Thanks very much to those who contributed the food and came to show support, including Pastor Rich and Pastor Kim. Let’s make this an outreach tradition for our church, and maybe even expand it to an-other Portland school! Church Outreach Committee
