• FREE Parent/Child Classes: Of the free classes offered to Family Members, there is a limit of two free classes per family, per session (additional fees apply if more than two free classes are selected). In addition, if your child misses more than two classes in a row without notifying the Y, the child will be dropped from the class.

Membership PoliciesWithin the first 30 days of membership we will refund 100% of all money paid if you are not totally satisfied with your membership.

Cancellation of Membership14 day written notice to terminate a membership:• Member must come in to complete membership termination form• In the case that a member has moved, email of the membership

termination form will suffice• If coming to the branch to complete the membership termination

form is a hardship for the member, the membership director uses discretion to make alternate arrangements

Changes to Membership14 day written notice to make any changes to a membership. Manager has discretion to prorate membership registration or cancellation.

Membership Holds:• A member can request a hold up to 3 months on their account

for any reason.• A member can request a hold up to 6 months on their account

for medical reasons with a Doctor note.• Membership charges will automatically resume after the hold period.

Refund/Credit/Make-up PoliciesWe do not provide refunds for programs. Credits or make-ups will only be given if we cancel a program or class.

Y For AllThe Y is a leading 501c(3) nonprofit organization for youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. Through funds raised from the Annual Campaign and special events, we are able to provide financial assistance to qualifying individuals and families so that everyone has a chance to learn, grow and thrive at the Y.

Joiner FeeNew members pay a one-time, non-refundable joiner fee. You may rejoin within 30 days of your membership expiring without repaying the fee. Y Members in good standing who are transferring their membership from another Y may request a joiner fee waived.

At the Sussex County YMCA there are many options for your children ages pre-school to eleventh grade to have a summer experience of a lifetime. From half-day or full-day programs at our facility in Hardyston to Sleepaway camps like Fairview Lake YMCA Camps at the base of the Kittatinny Ridge in Newton,

This program is to develop to encourage non-sports oriented youth to gain better overall wellness including participating in regular exercise. They will engage in diverse types of physical training techniques that will help develop a good fitness base including performing repetitive exercise for strength gain cardiovascular endurance and greater mobility. VertiMax®

VertiMax® is specially designed to maximize athletic potential by focusing on three key components: speed, explosive power and vertical jump. Athletes will complete consecutive reps for any given mobility drill. VertiMax® resistance allows athletes to achieve the highest resisted training velocities possible during training. The faster you can train with a load, the greater your high-speed strength gains or power outputs will be. Improve your top end running, or throwing speed, the VertiMax® will give athletes the competitive advantage to reach full potential.

Small Group Sports Training: 2-4 ParticipantsThis format includes 60 minute sessions where participants rotate through sports specific power exercises utilizing different equipment including the Queenax and VertiMax®.

Personal Sports Training / Coaching60 minute coaching sessions that are scheduled at your convenience with a certified trainer. These sessions will enable your athlete to train according to their sport specific goals. A variety of equipment including the Queenax and VertiMax® will be utilized.

YOUTH ACTIVITIES AND SPORTS

Stay N' Play 3mos-5yrs Connect with friends while your child enjoys exploring our Child Watch room, playing with toys and making new friends of his/her own. No food is allowed in the Child Watch room. Parent or guardian must stay with child.

Wiggle Worms 2-3yrs Learn basic gymnastic skills including rhythmic movement, rolls, jumps, landings and stands. Parent stays for class.

Martial Minis 3-5yrs Beginning Martial Arts skills taught in a fun, non-competitive environment. Emphasis is on skills, participation and following directions. This class is a great introduction to Karate.

Rookie Sports 3-5yrs Learn the fundamentals of basic sports: throwing, catching, kicking, running, dribbling, and more in a fun, non-competitive play environment.

Tiny Tumblers 4-6yrsDevelop an understanding of basic gymnastics terminology and skill. Class is taught with flexible thematic lesson plans to allow for creative exploration, growth and development while building strength and self-confidence. Children are introduced to age appropriate equipment.

Basketball4-7yrs Learn the fundamentals of basketball through games and new drills. Emphasis on participation,

sportsmanship, teamwork, skill development and having fun.8-11yrs

Soccer Club 4-6yrs Learn basic soccer skills in a play environment with emphasis on being active, following directions, and having fun.

T-ball 4-6yrs Learn the fundamentals of t-ball: hitting off the tee, catching, throwing, and base running. Skills taught in a fun, non-competitive environment.

Open Yoga 5+yrs A non-competitive and non-intimidating class that encourages all ages and families to practice yoga, good for mind, spirit, and body.

Karate 6-12yrs Learn self-defense, safety awareness, self-esteem and communication.

Baseball/Softball 7-12yrs Learn the fundamentals of baseball or softball: hitting, fielding, throwing, and base running. Skills taught in a

small group setting with individualized instruction. Instructional game play included.

Kid's Warrior Challenge 7-12yrs

Give your warrior a fun yet challenging fitness experience; they will work out in a boot camp style call that engages them in a variety of activities utilizing different fitness equipment. Increase endurance, strength, speed and agility while making new friends.

Kids Cardio Plus

8-11yrs Held in the wellness center with a certified trainer. The trainer will coach and support the kids as they work towards increasing conditioning. Great for improving overall cardio ability and weight loss. The ages overlap so we have flexibility to direct diverse abilities to either program.11-14yrs

Intro to Archery 8yrs +

Our Archery program gradually teaches the concentration, focus, patience and confidence essential for safety and enjoyment of the sport. Class will be taught by a certified instructor, and all equipment will be provided for this class. FALL 1 ONLY

Tennis 9-15yrs Learn tennis skills: hand-eye coordination, back and forehand strokes, serving, rules, scoring, strategy, and match play.

Basketball: Skill Development*

10-14yrsImprove your basketball skills. Learn the basic fundamentals of shooting, passing, and dribbling. Taught by our Sports Coordinator and former 1,000 point scorer at Sparta High School, Zach Frick.**Buy Sports & Conditioning and receive a discount. Call for more info.

Teen WarriorChallenge 12-16yrs

Give your warrior a fun, out of the box fitness challenge; work in a boot camp style class that takes place outside rain or shine. This workout will give your teen an opportunity to engage in a physical activity to Increase cardio endurance, strength and Functional mobility through a range of diverse activities.

Pound® 12+yrsSweat, Sculpt, Rock. Pound transforms drumming into an incredibly effective way of working out. Designed for all fitness levels, Pound® provides the perfect atmosphere for letting loose, getting energized, toning up and rockin’ out! FREE for Facility Members only - By appointment.

Youth Pickleball 9-15yrs Learn the fundamentals of pickleball: basic stroke fundamentals, serving, ground strokes, and volleys. Players will

learn rules and scoring. Skills taught in a fun, non-competitive environment. Instructional game play included.

Youth Travel Basketball (Grades 5-6 & 7-8)Boys and girls entering grades 5-6 & 7-8 compete in the NJYMCA Youth Basketball League, an 18-week season playing other NJ YMCAs. The league offers two different skill level divisions. After open tryouts, successful candidates are placed on either the Y’s A Team or B Team. Practices are twice a week. leading up to the first games which start the first week of December. The season culminates with the NJ YMCA Youth Basketball League State Tournament. Practices: Monday and Thursday 7:00-8:00pm Games: Home games will be held at the Sussex County YMCA on Saturday and Sunday afternoons between 1:00-5:00pm. Away games are tentatively scheduled for Friday - Sunday.

Work closely with your peers and staff on skill and character building activities, as well as on planning and organizing club projects. COMPETITIVE SWIMMINGSwordfish YMCA/USA 2019-2020 (Competitive swim teams for ages 6-18)Prerequisite: Proficient at swimming the backstroke, breaststroke, butterfly and freestyle in proper technique. Practices concentrate on improving technique, starts, turns, endurance and speed, dryland exercises and stretching. Team members will compete in dual meets against other YMCA teams in our league. FREE SWIM EVALUATIONS: It only takes about 5 minutes to determine the proper swim stage for your child. Call the YMCA to schedule your swim evaluation.

Starting in September families will be charged based on actual number of swim classes in the month. The charges will vary month to month based on the number of days in the month that the class meets.

1 WATER ACCLIMATION Students develop comfort with underwater exploration and learn to safely exit in the event of falling into a body of water in stage 1. This stage lays the foundation that allows for a student’s future progress in swimming.

2 WATER MOVEMENT In stage 2, students focus on body position and control, directional change, and forward movement in the water while also continuing to practice how to safely exit in the event of falling into a body of water.

3 WATER STAMINA In stage 3, students learn how to swim to safety from a longer distance than in previous stages in the event of falling into a body of water. This stage also introduces rhythmic breathing and integrated arm and leg action.

SWIM STROKE - Skills to support a healthy lifestyle

4 STROKE INTRODUCTION Students in stage 4 develop stroke technique in front crawl and back crawl and learn the breaststroke kick and butterfly kick. Water safety is reinforced through treading water and elementary backstroke.

5 STROKE DEVELOPMENT Students in stage 5 work on stroke technique and learn all major competitive strokes. The emphasis on water safety continues through treading water and sidestroke.

6 STROKE MECHANICSIn stage 6, students refine stroke technique on all major competitive strokes, learn about competitive swimming, and discover how to incorporate swimming into a healthy lifestyle.

TEEN BEGINNER SWIM LESSONS (Ages 13-17 years old, 30 minute lessons)Ideal for teens who have never learned to swim or who have some basic skills in the water, but never learned technique.

Camp Michikamau, is nestled in the scenic woods of Harriman State Park along Lake Kanawauke in New York. Our camp provides a beautiful natural setting with access to hiking trails and lakes. We have offered a high-quality traditional overnight camp for youth and teens, for more than 80 years.

We provide a balance of structured and choice activities to children grades 3-10 (ages 8-15). With our own waterfront we have a fleet of canoes, kayaks, rowboats, and paddle boats that offer a wide variety of waterfront activities. Athletic facilities include a blacktop area, two sports fields, an archery range, rock climbing wall and challenge course. For indoor activities, each camp has a recreation hall and an arts and crafts cabin.

We pride ourself on hiring well-trained, dedicated staff. The diversity of our staff enhances the experience for the campers. Each cabin has two counselors who provide a nurturing and safe environment as campers develop skills in athletics, challenge course, art and swimming, all while having fun, making new friends, and creating lifelong memories.

CAMP MICHIKAMAUFairview Lake YMCA Camps is nestled at the base of the Kittatinny Ridge on a 110-acre lake, 660 acres of woodlands, streams, ponds and open fields in scenic Sussex County.

We offer children grades 2-11, a beautiful, fun, adventurous setting in which to grow, play and thrive. Each of our camps has traditions, songs and stories that develop a sense of belonging in campers, even if it’s their first time away from home. Our highly trained and caring staff are selected to ensure the safety of our campers, and to help them realize their full potential, make new friends and try new activities. For over 100 years, campers have been calling Fairview Lake their home away from home, because of what they BECOME.
