New possibilities is how we would describe 2015. It was a year of preparing for the future—from the start of

construction on a new YMCA for the Stanwood-Camano community to the purchase of property for a new Everett

Y. These are important milestones that will lead to a greatly expanded capacity to serve more people in more ways.

The past year also marked the start of a new approach to membership with improved strategies for acquisition

to retention—all in an attempt to have a greater impact on the health and wellness of more people throughout

Snohomish County.

In addition, there is excitement around our new designation as a Global Center of Excellence (GCE) and what this

means for our inclusion and equity commitment. There is much more being done to prepare us for the future and we

are excited about what is ahead for our YMCA.

Our Y continues to be a leader, both locally and nationally to improve the health and well-being of our community.

Our work around Capital Development, Membership, and Diversity and Inclusion help ensure we are able to serve as

many people in our community as possible and make lasting, positive change for all, regardless of age, health, gender,

or socioeconomic status.

Each of the individuals we serve has their own personal Y story. A couple of these stories stand out, such as

supporting a Y staff member during her cancer journey so she could continue to work and support her family, as well

as providing a new foster mom with child care assistance so she can have peace of mind knowing her new son and

daughter are in a safe place with caring adults looking after them.

These and many other examples serve as powerful reminders of how we positively impact entire communities by

delivering on our mission to inspire, nurture, and strengthen culturally vibrant communities through youth development,

healthy living, and social responsibility.

We take great pride in the positive difference we are making every

day in Snohomish County.

Together, we can build a better us.

ANNUAL CAMPAIGN

MY Y STORYWhile Diane was surprised to learn there was a family-oriented community center where you can work out, be

safe, and have a great time, her husband Rodney already knew that. He remembers the Y supporting him during

difficult times in his past.

When they had their daughter Sarah, the whole family started coming to the Y. Sarah started with ballet and swim

lessons, and with support from the Y’s Annual Campaign, she attends Y child care and summer camps. Diane and

Rodney trust that Sarah is growing up strong and healthy through school, church, and the Y.

“The Y is about building moral values, passion, empathy, and character,” says Diane. “No matter what we’re going

through, the Y is the one thing we want in our life.”

The YMCA of Snohomish County makes every effort to ensure that no person, especially youth, will be denied access

to programs and membership because of financial hardship. The YMCA’s Financial Assistance Program is supported by

contributions to the Annual Campaign.

*CRT - Chair’s Round Table members contributing $1,000 or more annually.

During 2015, $2,533,852 was provided in direct financial assistance to 12,074 individuals. In addition, through the

generosity of our donors, United Way, members, and specific program grants, we were able to provide subsidized

programs and services to thousands of kids, youth, and families who would not otherwise be able to participate, thus

extending opportunities and increasing access to YMCA asset-building programs in extraordinary ways.
