Whether you visit the Himalayan region for a relaxed holiday or to experience the wilderness of the Mountains, you will
be guaranteed an experience of a lifetime. For over a decade we have operated trekking trips, peak climbing and
mountaineering expeditions, wildlife safari and mountain biking tours and have brought long memories to more than
15000 guests. With more than 120 trips over 4 different countries, we have designed trips for everyone from popular
hiking trips in the Annapurna and Everest areas to a mountain biking tour in a remote region of Bhutan. Our trips have
been designed with one objective: to give you the best of each country. We operate unique itineraries supported by
unique people.
This year, we are introducing some exciting new trips which will give you a chance to get deeper into the Chinese,
Tibetan and Nepalese culture. The new “High Train to Tibet” 18 days trip has been designed to combine a visit to Beijing
and its incredible historical architecture, an adrenaline-fuelled journey on the highest train in the world to Lhasa and an
overland tour to Kathmandu through high Plateau and ancient Buddhist temples. To let you enjoy new experience we
have designed several new trekking & cultural programs in India and Bhutan that give you meaningful insight into local
area and culture in the best possible way.
We have brought together an excellent team of well-trained local and Western staff, and our “friendly leaders in the
field” have an outstanding track record, both in respect to their group's achievements on treks and climbs and to their
personal accomplishments in various specialized fields. We are also immensely concern about the environment and the
local community. Our “Community Service Program” is aimed to let rural people of Nepal benefit from tourism. We
believe in 'Sustainable Tourism' through Eco-friendly Practices and our goal is to protect and preserve this beautiful
environment for future generations.
With the peace accord signed between Nepali government and Maoists, the country is striving further to win back its
lost pride as 'paradise on earth' and hope a peaceful era of bygone days will last forever.

We ensure that all porters and all other staffs are provided with adequate clothing equipment and good working wages. We are
the first ever company to supply high-altitude porters with crampons. Our insurance policy covers life insurance for porters and
emergency helicopter insurance. We design and promote safe work environments where motivated staffs can flourish and reach
their highest potential. We support the career aspirations of our staffs. Frequents training are provided to make the staffs more
competent and highly skilled. We run the trek according to the guidelines of the International Porter Protection group (IPPG -
www.ippg.net).
As a responsible ecotourism company, Explore Himalaya is very committed in raising awareness of all travelers towards the
conservation of natural and cultural heritages and the cultural integrity of local communities. We believe that ecotourism can
offer tourists an enlightening participatory travel experience to environments and in case of the local community a valuable
economic opportunity along with the conservation and sustainable use of nature for future generations. Undeniably, ecotourism
has a greater potential of becoming a leading source of revenues for Nepal. Henceforth, we aim to cultivate a strong sense of
responsibility to foster sound ecotourism development in Nepal.
With the increasing tourism in the Himalayas, the natural resources are dwindling on being exposed to more pollution and
environmental threats. Explore Himalaya's prime concerns are focused on environment conservation and management. We also
strive to preserve fragile and endangered eco-systems.
Prior to traveling to the Himalayas, Explore Himalaya thoroughly educates its clients on how they should abide by certain
guidelines and measures to conserve environment and respect Nature while exploring the cultural heritages of Nepal and other
travel destinations. We strongly dissuade the practice of setting camp fires and using kerosene as an alternative fuel to wood for
cooking so as to exterminate the chances of deforestation which is one of the greatest environmental threats Nepal is facing
today. We also discourage trekkers from using wood-fuelled hot showers in lodges and it is quite a relief to see that many lodges
now provide solar hot showers which is undeniably a far more eco-friendly alternative. We are highly caution about alerting our
staffs and clients regarding the impacts of garbage disposal on the environment. When it comes to garbage management, after
trekking or mountaineering our environment-friendly staffs dispose the garbage in the areas allocated by Nepal government.
Our aim is to help protect and preserve this beautiful environment for future generations of trekkers to enjoy.
All our trekking programs featured in this brochure are classified into three different categories according to their level of
difficulty. Our grading systems should only be taken as a general guideline; it is up to you to judge your own fitness, ability and
mental and physical stamina.
Soft Adventure treks These treks are only about a week to 10 days in duration. They generally don't go above 4000 meter and each day, you can
expect to be walking for around 4 5 hours. They are a perfect introduction to trekking in Nepal. The activity level is fairly easy
but don't expect it to be all easy going, there will still be some big hills to climb as well as the well-known 'Nepali flat' a little bit
up and a little bit down.
Moderate to fairly challenging treksLonger treks going right into high mountain country, to some of the famous mountaineering Base Camps over high passes.
Physically quite tiring, involves approx 6-8 hours trekking along rocky ridges of high Himalayan peaks. No previous experience
required, you should be moderately fit, used to some regular exercise and enjoy walking in the high altitude conditions.
Strenuous treks Longer treks that go far beyond the normal haunts of trekkers and tourists, to remote areas of the country where the landscapes
are wild and untamed and where the local inhabitants have seen little change in their way of life for centuries- untouched
corners of an increasingly crowded planet. Physically challenging, likely to include unfavorable weather conditions and
strenuous activities. Definitely not for beginners

OUTLINE ITINERARYOne of the top ten best rivers in the
world - 10 days ex KathmanduSun Kosi River is an ideal destination for
pursuing a classic white water rafting
trip in Nepal. Also popularly known as
“Golden River", Sun Kosi is the longest
river cascading 270 km through
Mahabharat Lekh Mountains to the
Himalaya. Journeying through this
torrential river on an inflatable rubber
boat with life-jackets on, we have nature
accompany us all along the river trip
bestowing ample opportunity to witness
exotic wildlife in its natural habitat.
Besides this sheer awe-inspiring
whitewater rafting against roaring
rapids from put-in point below the
Village of Lamosangu to the put-out
point at Chatara, we can have cultural
encounters as we approach pristine
hamlets on terraced hillsides. En route,
we may sightsee exotic animals like

Gap Year Student Program in Nepal - 42 Days ex Kathmandu
This is a unique blend of various activities particularly devised for students taking a gap year.
The multi activities holiday includes a volunteering service focused on the development of local
community, cultural exchange activities, a soft adventure trek in a magnificent Langtang region
and guided visits to the cultural and historical legacies of Kathmandu valley. To make volunteer
work most exciting and highly educative, we have conceived an idea of ‘homestay program’
where we put students together with local families of the region, at least 2 to 3 students share a
family and we make sure that all the students are given a warm hospitality and maintain top
hygienic level while catering to the guests. We are very hopeful that this program offers
students a highly rewarding holiday where they can interact with local families involving
themselves in various volunteering activities such as teaching in local schools, helping local
health post, assisting in various community services and so on.
The activity concludes with a weeklong trek to Langtang region. The trek starts from Syabru
Bensi after 5-6 hours drive from Nuwakot. Following a trail upstream Bhote Kosi river through
ethnic Tamang villages, lush green forests and wide spread Kyangin valley.
Surrounded by snowy peaks from all fours sides, we ascend up to Kyangin at 3800 meter,
where we get an opportunity to ascend Kyangjin Ri [4350m], from where the 360 degree
mountain views are truly spectacular. After an ascent of Kyangjin Ri, we retrace our route back
down the valley to Syabru Bensi and then drive back to Kathmandu. The trek is not considered
strenuous, yet, it remains challenging as it reaches the altitude of 3800 meter at Kyangjin Ri at
4350 meter.
15 Days ex KathmanduThis low altitude trek in the
Annapurna foothills is specially
devised for families. We include time
in the traditional villages. At each
campsite you can join our crew and
the villagers in dancing, singing and
games of volleyball and cricket.
There is also time to visit the local
schools and markets where cultural
horizons are so different from our
own. During the trek you get to
witness magnificent oak and
rhododendron forests as you ascend
to alpine meadows that afford
spectacular views of the Annapurna
Range. After completing your trek

Langtang Climbing Camp Trek & Climbing Course
Within two weeks in Nepal this trip gives an
ideal cross-section of all that is the essence of this
wonderful mountain kingdom: the alleys,
courtyards, palaces and temples of Kathmandu,
the terraced "middle hills', the high glaciated
valleys and pastures, the stunning views of the
Himalaya, including several of the world's
highest peaks, and an amazing mix of cultures,
religions and races. And combined with the trek
into the dramatic Langtang Valley the main
objective will be to climb Yala Peak, technically
straightforward but very much a Himalayan
summit with stunning views in all directions and
surrounded by high, snowy peaks and glaciers.
This trip will allow participants to have a
through grounding in basic mountaineering
skills from our experienced and qualified leaders
for those who are keen to take up
mountaineering as a pursuit, or for those who are
curious about mountains and mountaineering
and simply wish to give it a try, for the enjoyment
of experience alone. Either way by the end of this
trip participants will have enough in the way of
skills, as well as the confidence gained from the
achievement, to go on to greater things in the
future-and what better place is there to learn
about mountaineering and to be inspired to climb
peaks than the Nepal Himalaya! .

North Face Camp at around 19,000ft before
breaking out across the glacier under
Everest's West Ridge to the vantage point of
the Lho La. This is where in 1922 George
Mallory stood and pronounced the Khumbu

to name the hanging glacier above the ice
fall, the Western Cwm, as a fond memory of
his welsh climbs back home in UK.

Awe-inspiring circumnavigation
around Kinnaur Kailash mountain -
17 days ex DelhiThis singularly unusual Himalayan
trekking journey will take us deep into
Buddhist Kinnaur, one of Northern India's
least known and most compelling
mountain regions. Located on the Indo-
Tibetan border, Kinnaur, Land of the Gods,
is perhaps the most fascinating region of
the Indian Himalayas. Set within the
Western Himalaya, it boasts some of the
highest mountains in Himachal Pradesh.
This is the only area in the world where
Buddhist worship has gone on completely
uninterrupted, and Kinnaur has never been
subject to outside invasion. Being restricted
to all until 1993, it has the mystique of a
forbidden kingdom and an aura of the
unknown. Nature's work here is awe-
inspiring. Bisecting the Kinnaur Valley is
the foaming Satluj River, which rises near
Mount Kailash in Tibet, and passes
through spectacular gorges carved by its
strong currents.
You will be provided with many
opportunities to learn about Tibetan
Buddhism and the history of the people in
this fascinating and untouched region.

General information
Travel with a group or on a private trip
All our trips are available on fixed departure and private basis. If you would like to travel independently, or with
your friends, families & colleagues you are invited to choose any of the trips at your convenient time frame for
any number of people. We offer tailored adventure as well to suit your exact requirements.
Travel insurance
Before joining the tour we recommend you take out travel insurance. This should include adequate cover for
baggage, medical expenses, cancellation, helicopter evacuation and emergency repatriation. If you do not have
travel insurance you must have a credit card with at least a US$5000 limit.
Immunizations / Vaccinations
As vaccination requirements change frequently, we suggest you to consult your doctor at least 3 months prior to
the commencement of your trip. We recommend protection against malaria, tetanus, typhoid, hepatitis and polio.
Trek security
Security of our clients is the foremost important for us. All our guides and other support crew are carefully chosen
for your trips, all our guides are licensed by Nepal Government. They are absolutely honest who you can trust
your life with; they will ensure that you do not have any feeling of insecurity throughout your trip.
Clothing and equipment
The clothing you bring will need to allow for both the warmth of the days and the chill of the nights. While
trekking during the day at lower altitudes, lightweight trekking trousers and T-shirts are recommended. It's
always a good idea to carry a waterproof jacket and some warmer clothing with you though as mountain weather
is notoriously unpredictable. For the cold nights, thermal underwear, a warm fleece jacket and even a down jacket
will help to keep you warm. You will receive a checklist of what to bring with the trip dossier. Most equipment
will be provided on the trip with the exception of personal equipment.
Luggage on treks
During trek your main luggage will be carried by porter or pack animals (usually yaks or cross breeds). You
simply carry a day pack with water bottle, camera, sun-screen, spare jacket, etc. - a small load that allows full
enjoyment of the trek. A trek bag is ideal for your main luggage, plus a small lockable bag for travel clothes.
Visa / Passport
All travelers must carry a valid passport and appropriate visas. Please ensure your passport is valid for 6 months
beyond the duration of the trip.
High Altitude
Altitude sickness has the potential to affect all trekkers from 2500m and higher. Your body needs days to adjust to
smaller quantities of oxygen in the air. At 5500m/18,044ft the air pressure is approximately half that of sea level,
i.e. there is half the amount of oxygen. For treks below an altitude of about 3000m/10,000ft it is not normally a
problem. Acute Mountain Sickness is caused by going up high too fast and can be fatal if all the warning signals
are ignored. Note that it is not the actual altitude, but the speed at which you reach higher altitudes which causes
the problems. At Explore Himalaya, we are very concern about that problem and always take some rest days to
acclimatize to avoid any health problems.
