Mission Statement
“To preserve, protect, and share the rich
history of Iron County, Missouri.”
Our History
The Iron County Historical Society was
founded in 1974. Over the years our
organization has either taken the lead or
supported a number of activities that
have supported our mission of preserving,
protecting, and sharing Iron County’s
rich history. We’ve operated our
museum since 1984 and continue to add
to our collections today.

Why join the Iron County
Historical Society?
The Iron County Historical Society is a
non-profit organization promoting the
protection, preservation and sharing of
the rich history of Iron County, Missouri.
The collection of membership dues and
donations allows us to continue
operating our museum at the Whistle
Junction Visitors Center and to support
our mission.
We hold quarterly membership meetings
with programs highlighting Iron
County’s rich history and publish a
quarterly newsletter.
We hope you will consider joining us in
our mission by filling out and returning
this membership application.

deductible.

Visitors Center
The Iron County Historical Society’s
museum within the Whistle Junction
Visitors Center is open year round. Our
hours vary by season.
Summer Hours (March – November)
Monday – Saturday 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.
Sunday 1 p.m. – 4 p.m.
Winter Hours (December – March)
Friday & Saturday 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.
Sunday 1 p.m. – 4 p.m.
If you would like to volunteer to work at
the museum please check this box and
our museum director will contact you.
Annual membership runs from April 1st to
March 31st. Quarterly membership meetings are
normally held on the third Sunday of January,
April, July, and October at 2 p.m. at the Ironton
Presbyterian Church. Changes to this schedule
are published in advance of these meetings in
the quarterly newsletter.
