God has Created Every Person to Have a Specific Purpose

“God has created all people spiritually equal. Every person has the same propensity for good and evil. Every person has the same choice, as whether to obey God or to defy Him. Yet in other ways, we are very unequal. Some people are highly intelligent, while others have feeble intellects. Some people are phys-ically strong and healthy, while others are weak and prone to illness. Some people are handsome and at-tractive, while others are plain. Those, who are gifted in some way, should not despise those less gifted.”

“On the contrary, God has distributed gifts and blessings in such a way that every person has a specific place and purpose within a society; and, therefore, everyone is equally necessary for a society to function well. So do not resent the fact that someone is more intelligent or stronger than you are. Instead, give thanks for their intelligence and strength—from which you benefit. And then ask yourself: ‘What is my gift, and - as a consequence - what is my place in society?’ When you have answered this question, and you act according to your answer, all contempt and resentment will melt away.”

We Need to be ever more Vigilant over our Children

As your Hierarch I am asking you to do 3 things:

Keep our children in your prayers. Commend them to Christ’s care. Commend them to the care of His Most Holy Mother Mary. Again, pray for them.

Stay connected to your own children AND your spiritual children. Talk often with them. Find out how they are doing. Help them as you are able. Stay connected with them.

Help me gather them together for an online event. The event is de-scribed here. Again, help me gather them together.

We are planning an online event for our Diocesan children, ages 5-18, on Sunday, September 27, 2020 from 6:30 – 8pm. They will have an oppor-tunity to see each other and be together, have some fun together, learn a little, and see the support of their Diocesan Priests and Hierarch.

We’ve learned through our Diocesan and Parish Youth Programs that get-ting our children together, even in the online environment, is important for them. God works in the online world too. We need only provide the oppor-tunity. Again, help me bring our kids together.

—Metropolitan GREGORY
