Jamaica E Track ReconstructionProject Briefing
,.
Project Overview
§ “Direct fixation” track from late 1970s-early 1980s construction of Archer Av Line§ Unique track type used on less than 2%
subway tracks§ Rails fixed directly to tunnel floor, rather
than to wooden tie blocks§ Track has deteriorated significantly since
1980s, exceeded its useful life, and is in urgent need of replacement§ Interim repair measures undertaken in late
2018 are also reaching end of useful life§ Track replacement includes successfully
proven updated design to increase durability
