Assessment for hospital and rest home level careIf you believe you or your loved one can no longer live
at home with the current support, the first step is to
apply for a needs assessment from the District Health
Board. To start the process, simply visit your GP to
ask for a needs assessment. A needs assessment will
determine the level of care that is required and if the
care is short term or on-going.
Respite care and health recovery optionsIf you are caring for an older person and need a break,
POWLEY offers short term respite care. We also offer
health recovery and rehabilitation. Please talk to your
GP as care may be funded by your District Health
Board. Alternatively it can be directly arranged with us
and privately funded.
Can I apply for financial help?Yes, if you are 65 or over and your ‘support needs
assessment’ confirms that you may be eligible for
government financial assistance. Work and Income
New Zealand will have all the information required and
can explain what assistance is available and eligibility
criteria. Please call 0800 559 009 or if you prefer, we
can assist you with this process.
When you need full time care or assisted living, all you
really want to know is that you are in the best of hands.
Nestled amongst a pretty garden sanctuary with an
old fashioned community spirit, this village offers
quality hospital and rest home level care.
We appreciate that finding the right care can feel like
an overwhelming process, so please read through
our brochure. It will provide an overview of the care
services and assistance we provide at POWLEY. We
also understand that each person has a different set of
needs, so feel free to call us to discuss your individual
requirements and how we can help.Feel safe, feel secureWhilst the ideal goal is to ensure you stay living in your
own home for as long as possible, POWLEY care facility

care. You will have access to 24-hour care in a safe
