Broadway/TV star Adam Trent will be bringing his signature brand of magic and illusion to the Capitol Center for the Arts (Concord, NH) on Thursday, November 16 at 7:30PM in a 90-minute stage spectacle. Produced by the creative team behind The Illusionists, the world’s best-selling touring magic show, THE ILLUSIONISTS PRESENT THE MAGIC OF ADAM TRENT is an immersive entertainment extravaganza of magic, comedy and music designed to entertain the entire family.

Showcasing his “futuristic” brand of magic, Trent has mesmerized live audiences around the globe, in person and as a featured guest on America’s Got Talent, The Today Show, Ellen, the Travel Channel and Disney Channel, among countless other TV appearances. Trent also stars in his own recently-launched, 10-episode TV series The Road Trick on Red Bull TV. Trent inaugurated the first two years of THE ILLUSIONISTS' recordbreaking Broadway runs, which served as a launching pad for his own live show and tour. “I am so excited to hit the road and bring an entirely new show to audiences around the world,” says Trent, who has always thought that magic should be entertaining first and tricky second. He doesn’t want people to remember “tricks” as much as the

laughs and memories made with the performance. “This will be a show like you’ve never seen.” Tickets for the November 16 performance may be ordered by calling the Capitol Center for the Arts at (603) 225-1111 or online at www.ccanh.com. Tickets may also obtained at the CCA’s box office at 44 South Main St., Concord, NH, which is open Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday from 11AM to 6PM. The box office is also open Saturdays from 11AM to 2PM.

Jazz pianist Laszlo Gardony will bring his jazz trio to the Nashua Public Library on Saturday, November 25. The free performance is sponsored by the Friends of the Library and is part of the Winter Holiday Stroll. The group will play two sets, at 5:45 p.m. and 7:10 p.m. Joining Gardony will be Yoron Israel on drums and John Lockwood on bass. The trio performs and records regularly, exploring Gardony’s extensive book of original pieces as well as standards and jazz classics by the likes of Horace Silver and Billy Strayhorn.

“It’s heaven playing with such great musicians,” Gardony says. “John and Yoron hear the music around them so well. If I give them charts they immediately understand what I’m trying to do.”

Gardony’s latest CD, “Serious Play,” released in July, received four-star reviews in Downbeat and Jazz Journal. JazzTimes Magazine says, Gardony, the 1987 winner of the Great American Jazz Piano

Competition, is “one of contemporary music’s truly original voices.”

As a sideman, Gardony has recorded and toured extensively with Yoron Israel's High Standards Quartet and with Matt Glaser's Wayfaring Strangers.

The library is located at 2 Court Street, Nashua. For directions and parking information go to nashualibrary.org/visit/directions. For other information contact Carol at [email protected] or (603) 589-4610.

The Deep Blue 'C' Studio Orchestra performs music of the legendary, Burt Bacharach and his lyricist, Hal David. Sit back and enjoy some of the best music ever written with songs that you know and love including, Do You Know the Way to San Jose, Walk on By, Raindrops Keep Falling on My Head, I’ll Never Fall in Love Again, What the World Needs Now is Love and many more.

The 17-piece orchestra is comprised of a string section, horn section, four vocalists and a full rhythm section. The DBCSO has filled theaters and also presented a private concert for the former President,

George H. W. Bush and family. This might be one of the most memorable concerts of your life!

A studio orchestra is made up of woodwinds, brass, percussion and strings, as well as a rhythm section of guitar, bass guitar, keyboards, and drum set. Traditionally studio orchestras were assembled by large recording houses, such as MGM, or in the film industry to enhance the effect of a movie and to extract the most poignant details in the composer’s music. “Doc” Vose followed his dream to spread this musical excitement and his deep love and respect for the musical contributions of composer Burt Bacharach

and lyricist Hal David by assembling his own Deep Blue “C” Studio Orchestra. The show starts at 7pm (doors open at 6pm) on Saturday, November 4. Tickets start at $20. Reserve tickets online or call the box office (603) 335-1992, M/W/F from 10-5pm and 2-hours before the show.

The Rochester Opera House is sponsored by TD Bank North, Eastern Propane, Shaheen & Gordon P.A., and Norm Vetter Foundations. The Rochester Opera House is located in City Hall, 31 Wakefield Street, Rochester NH. Visit www.RochesterOperaHouse.com for more information.

WARNER, NH: Back by popular demand! The Mt. Kearsarge Indian Museum announces a 3-Hour Dreamcatcher Workshop with Abenaki artist Lenny Novak on Sunday, November 12, 2017 from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.

During one of Lenny Novak's journeys, he saw his first dreamcatcher made of a grapevine and fishing line. It fascinated him. He began learning all about it and the Ojibwa tribe that was credited with its development. He learned the many stories that went with it and its uses. Then he sought to combine the nature that he loved with the dreamcatcher that caught him in its web of wonder and bring it to a more natural life. Seeking to make a "loop to loop," which is the web most people associate with dreamcatchers, and without instruction, he began to weave how he thought the web was made. Over twenty-five years later his now perfected technique has brought his art to the forefront as we consider his dreamcatchers fine contemporary Native art. “We are very excited to have Lenny Novak back with us,” said Executive Director, Patricia Violette. “He’s steeped in tradition and his art work is legend.”

Join us for this workshop on Sunday, November 12 and you will learn how dreamcatchers are made. You'll try your hand at creating your own

dreamcatcher! Workshop includes light refreshments. Admission fee will be $20 for Native Americans and Members and $25 for Non-Members. Also included is a complimentary self-guided tour of the museum which will begin at 12:00 Noon. Please contact Denise at 603-456-2600 to reserve your spot.

Mt. Kearsarge Indian Museum was founded in 1990 by Charles “Bud” and Nancy Thompson as an educational and cultural center to connect visitors with Native American culture, past and present, and to encourage respect for our environment. The Mt. Kearsarge Indian Museum seeks to challenge all of us to improve the quality of our lives and our world. The museum is open daily through October 31, Monday – Saturday 10:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. Sunday noon-5:00 p.m. In November, we are open on weekends only from noon-5 p.m. We are located at 18 Highlawn Road in Warner, New Hampshire. Visit our Facebook page and our website at www.indianmuseum.org to stay connected to our events. For more information, please call 603-456-2600 or email us at info@

Grateful Dead Tribute band returns to The Capitol Center For The Arts

Dark Star Orchestra (DSO) returns to the historic Capitol Center for the Arts in Downtown Concord on Tuesday, November 21 at 7PM. Tickets start at $32, plus any applicable fees for phone/Internet sales. Performing to critical acclaim celebrating their 20th anniversary year in 2017 and over 2600 shows, Dark Star Orchestra continues the Grateful Dead concert experience. Honoring both the band and the fans, the band’s members seek out the unique style and sound of each era, while simultaneously offering their own informed improvisations. This creates a sound that truly encapsulates the energy and the experience.

Dark Star Orchestra’s shows are built off the Dead’s extensive catalog and the talent of seven fine musicians. On any given night, the band will perform a show based on a set list from the Grateful Dead’s 30 years of extensive touring or use their catalog to program a unique set list for the show. In doing so, DSO offers a continually evolving artistic outlet within this musical canon.

Tickets for the November 21 performance may be ordered by calling the Capitol Center for the Arts at (603) 225-1111 or online at www.ccanh.com. Tickets may also obtained at the CCA’s box office at 44 South Main St., Concord, NH, which is open Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 11AM to 6PM and Saturdays from 11AM to 2PM.

brake for moose -- It Could Save Your LifeN.H. Fish and Game Department reminds motorists to be extra cautious

while traveling Granite State roadways because moose are on the move. Kristine Rines, Fish and Game's longtime Moose Project Leader, says that drivers should be prepared to see and react quickly to moose on or near the road. While moose/vehicle collisions can happen at all times of the year, fall is a time of increased activity and accidents. In 2016, 116 moose were killed by vehicles in New Hampshire. Rines urges drivers to slow down and stay alert – and not just at "moose crossing" signs! To avoid a moose collision:

Drive no faster than 55 miles per hour – especially at night, dusk and dawn.Use high beams when possible;Be able to stop within the zone of your headlights;Scan the sides of the roads as you drive. If you see a moose on the side of the road, expect it to run in front of you so SLOW down.

For more information on avoiding moose collisions, visit www.wildnh.com/wildlife/brake-for-moose.html.

The sound of hammers banging and local construction contractors working feverishly is being heard throughout Mt Washington Valley. From contemporary shopping centers filled with public art to slopeside condo complexes, glamping sites, and mountainside hotels, not to mention a $1 million Haunted Castle, visitors have plenty of novel new options to experience in Mt Washington Valley in 2017 and 2018. Let’s take a look.

THe HAunTeD CASTLe AT ADvenTure SuITeSGet ready for Casper, the Headless Horseman and

Poltergeist, all rolled into one haunted experience unlike any other at Adventure Suites in North Conway. While visitors to Mt Washington Valley may stay in hotels, inns and B&Bs that are purported to be haunted, there’s only one place where you can be guaranteed you’ll sleep with a ghost. Adventure Suites in North Conway, NH, named among the top ten themed hotels in the country, is diligently putting the finishing touches on their newest addition – a $1 million room called the Haunted Castle. This five-level room leaves absolutely no details behind, and is the first and only simulated overnight haunted hotel experience in the world.

Nothing like this has ever been created before. It’s Disney level and a breakthrough in hotel technology. The special effects experienced by those who stay in the

Haunted Castle are state- of-the-art. Beds will shake, ghosts will appear and disappear, cupboards will open and close, there might even be a small explosion or two, to say nothing of the audio effects being designed for this lodging experience. Adventure Suites has implemented a sophisticated computerized system involving motion sensors, time delays, video, projection pneumatics, lights, audio and more to scare the heck out of guests.

No expense has been spared on this project. The special toilets alone cost more than $9,000. Features include a gangway bar overlooking the living room, outdoor hot tub on the balcony, the king’s “bone throne”, two fireplaces, three bathrooms, a draw bridge leading to the three bedrooms (including a 3-tiered “dormatorium” sleeping 12) and hundreds of features, skeletons, gargoyles and beyond-your-imagination statues and effects. The room sleeps up to 18 people, and can be used by individuals, families or groups.

Guests can expect to be haunted, expect to have fun, but can’t expect to get much sleep. Special effects will last throughout the night. Effects can be programed for preferences from family-friendly to bachelorette, wedding, and scare-your-pants off. Be prepared to sign a waiver before entering, and yes, there is a way out if it’s too much.

The room is still under construction but is expected to make its debut in November, 2017. For information (coming soon), visit www.AdventureSuites.com.

KeArSArGe brooK AT CrAnmoreA year ago (September, 2016) state and local

leaders gathered at the base of Cranmore Mountain Resort to celebrate the groundbreaking of Kearsarge Brook Condominiums at Cranmore, part of the $50 million development to add year-round residences and expanded base facilities at the North Conway ski resort. Today, the construction crews are working on decks, and a model unit is open 11am – 4pm. The first units are slated for move-in at the end of October, 2017 with first, second and third floor units anticipated for move in by Christmas. Phase One of Kearsarge Brook Condominiums is located at the base of Cranmore’s South Slope, providing the first 18 two-and three- bedroom residences with easy access to the slopes and expansive views of Cranmore and the surrounding White Mountains.

In April 2017, Cranmore Mountain Resort announced it would break ground on the new Kearsarge Brook resident pool facility and future tubing park base lodge. The new facility, located at the base of Cranmore’s tubing park hill, will be adjacent to Cranmore Fitness. The building will be constructed in two parts. The first segment will include a new outside pool and hot tub area, with an adjacent indoor viewing area and men’s and women’s changing room. The Pool Facility will be reserved for Kearsarge Brook owners on weekends and vacation periods, with a limited number of midweek membership options available to Cranmore Fitness members. The projected completion date for the

first portion of the building will be December, 2017. The second segment of the building will include

first level Tubing and Mountain Adventure Park ticket windows, an employee room, public bathrooms and a small private fitness area for Kearsarge Brook residents. The second level will include a restaurant for the tubing park and a large deck. The completion date for this segment is projected to be completed in two to three years. When the entire $50 million project is completed, six new buildings and a total of 106 condominiums will have been added to Cranmore's base area. The first two buildings will be residential, while the third and fourth will replace existing base lodges with 45,000 square feet of new lodge space. Historic is a term often used when referring to Pinkham Notch and the Mt Washington Auto Road. After all, it was the first manmade attraction to debut in the USA. Once again, history repeats itself here as the fifth iteration of the historic Glen House Hotel is under construction. The first Glen House was opened in 1852, and then three subsequent hotels were destroyed by fire, along with the former Great Glen Trails Ski Lodge, on whose site the present Glen House is being built. The family-owned Mount Washington Summit Road Company (MWSRC) which has owned and operated the Mt. Washington Auto Road since 1906, intends to have the fifth version of the hotel open as early as Spring,

2018. Construction on the 68-room hotel is on schedule after a few weather interruptions last spring. According to Auto Road General Manager, Howie Wemyss, “The hotel will be “dried in” for winter, meaning the roof will be on and water tight allowing all the inside work to proceed as planned through the winter. We should have a website up within a month and reservations will be available starting after the first of the year.”

Located on the west side of Route 16 in Green’s Grant on a site owned by the MWSRC, the Glen House Hotel will feature a mix of king and double queen rooms, with many adjoining rooms and/or fully accessible rooms. Close to half of the rooms will include balconies on both the Mt Washington side as well as the Mt Carter/Moriah side. A full restaurant, open to the public and hotel guests, will offer 66 seats in the restaurant, 46 seats in the lounge and 40 seats under covered outdoor dining on a west facing deck for warmer months. In addition, a meeting room, an indoor pool, and activities offered by Great Glen Trails and the Mt Washington Auto Road will be offered from this ski-in/ski out hotel.

From historic to new, Mt Washington Valley is filled with enough discoveries to keep you coming back for years and years. TAMWORTH VILLAGE, NH, OCTOBER 25, 2017 -- On Saturday, November 11, from 10 a.m.-12 p.m., Faithe McCreery, curator at Remick Country Doctor Museum & Farm in Tamworth Village, will present the first workshop in a series dedicated to helping individuals preserve their family heirlooms.

During this introductory workshop, attendees will learn key tips and professional processes for handling and storing photographs to keep them safe and well preserved for generations to come. Using examples from the Remick collection, among others, Ms. McCreery will share highlights of the history of photography before the digital age, as well as the basics of how to identify common historical formats, the perils of common storage materials and locations, how to handle, store and display photographs to aid in long-term preservation, and a helpful take-home overview and resource list.

The cost for the workshop is $10 for nonmembers, $5 for members, and is suitable for participants ages 16 and above; reservations close Thursday, November 9 and are taken by phone. Interested persons should call the Museum for reservations or to learn more, at 603-323-7591.

This is the first workshop led by Ms. McCreery

after becoming Remick Museum's first full-time Curator in June of 2017. When asked about her role at the Museum as it relates to the public, she states, "It is important to me to work at a site that is community-centered and has a strong commitment to using the lessons of history to understand, and even improve, contemporary life."
