CAPs• A CAP is a mini-student lesson plan that

allows the student to learn and grow at his/her own pace. A CAP also allows self assessment and teacher evaluation through assigned activities.

• A CAP helps the students to break down assignments and get a better understanding of the lesson, through repetition and pacing.

What are the Georgia Performance Standards?

• The performance standards provide clear expectations for instruction, assessment, and student work.

• They define the level of work that demonstrates achievement of the standards, enabling a teacher to know “how good is good enough.”

• They allow our teachers to work together and set goals for us.

• The Performance Standards will allow our teachers to ask three essential questions:

• What do we want our students to learn?

• How will we know when each student has learned it?

• How will we respond when a student experiences difficulty?

Direct Instruction • At the beginning of each class period, the

teacher will give a review of the previous day and a brief introduction of the day's lesson .

• Our teachers will then teach standards based lessons from the internet that have been written by our teachers for us.

Whole Group Lessons

Looking to the Future• We will be expected to participate every day in class

discussions as well as assignments. We will receive points for our participation!

• We will be monitored and evaluated monthly on behavior, academics, and willingness to move forward.

• And when we graduate we can work as teacher assistants to help our peers.

• When we (students) fulfill these requirements we will be rewarded accordingly.

Bringing DJJ into the 21st Century• We will now have more resources other than

just text books and CAPs.

• We will be able to participate in interactive lessons on computers, such as essays, articles, science experiments, voting and grammar corrections exercises.

• And our teachers will now have more advanced tools to aid them in teaching our lessons.
