Pastor’s Bible Study
Are you ready to grow deeper into God’s Word? Disciple Fast Track 2: Into the Word, Into the World is a perfect opportunity to learn, fellowship, and grow with others. Pastor Cowser will lead two Bible study groups – Tuesdays at 6:00 p.m. and Wednesdays at 11:00 a.m. beginning August 20th and 21st. Please sign-up and purchase your study book for $10.00 in the church office.
New Church Directory New Beginnings will be publishing a brand-new church directory this year! Our church directory will be a helpful tool as we continue to meet one another and organize our ministry. Photography dates will be August 2-3, 2019 in the Fellowship Hall. Please reserve your photography date and time today in the Welcome Center. Contact Valencia Jackson ([email protected]) for more information.
Summer is here! Have you signed-up for either online giving or text-to-give? If you will be missing a few Sundays this summer due to travel or other commitments, please consider giving electronically. Simply visit our website (www.newbeginningsbham.org/give) or text (205) 791-5441. Your consistent support is vital to the ministries of our church and community.
KITCHEN UPDATE: After researching the costs associated with upgrading the kitchen with a fire suppression system, the Core Team has decided to delay the upgrade and prohibit all cooking in the kitchen/church. We will continue our Breakfast Ministry and other vital ministries, but with either an adapted menu or catering. The costs associated with the fire suppression system are too great at this time and we will be focusing on developing a Master Building Plan for the future expansion of our church. The Board of Trustees is working on other much smaller and affordable projects associated with keeping our church safe in the event of a fire.

Note from Pastor Cowser
“What is Good Worship?” “And they were calling to one another,
Holy, holy, holy is the Lord Almighty, the whole
earth is full of his glory.” -Isaiah 6:3
“What is Good Worship?” is a question that
pastors continuously ask themselves as they seek
to lead their congregations in the worship of God.
As a matter of fact, there is not a Sunday that passes in which I personally do
not find myself reflecting on what has taken place in the worship service.
Occasionally, my reflections are somewhat critical, especially, as it relates to
the sermon, but often times, I reflect on something that was either said or
done that continues to inspire me throughout the week. On surface level, I
believe we all, pastors and laity alike, are guilty of evaluating worship based
upon our own personal tastes and preferences. However, I believe good
worship is not something that we can manufacture or reproduce, but good
worship happens when we find ourselves open to the transforming power of
God through the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
I am reminded of Isaiah, a prophet of the Lord’s vision of how God moved
him to a moment of confession and worship in the temple after experiencing
the death of his friend, King Uzziah, recorded in Isaiah chapter 6. What made
his worship experience so powerful was that he allowed God to transform
him. Isaiah experienced such a powerful transformation that he acclaimed to
the Lord: “Here I am. Send me.” I often wonder, when was the last time you
and I allowed God to touch our life in this way? One of the hallmarks of New
Beginnings Church is our powerful and transformative worship experience. I
challenge each of us to go a bit deeper into our worship. Simply put, let us be
intentional about preparing our hearts and minds to receive what it is that God
has for us, so that we can leave transformed for the glory of God. At the end
of the day, I believe it does not matter what we do in worship, if it does not
continue in how we live our lives each and every day.
