Q: Besides partnering with Choggiung Limited by selling the majority of BBNC’s interest in Bristol Industries, what are some other ways BBNC has supported the regional village corporations?

A: Currently, BBNC is partnering with Aleknagik Natives Limited on government contracting opportunities. In the past, we’ve also partnered with Oceanside Corporation and have offered many training sessions to other village corporations through the In-Region Government Contracting Program. BBNC will continue to provide trainings or business help and support to any village corporation that asks.

Q: Does BBNC do any investing in renewable energy sources?

A: BBNC is currently working with Nushagak Cooperative in Dillingham for a potential renewable energy project within Bristol Bay. BBNC also offered assistance and consulting on the in-river hydrokinetic generator project in Igiugig. BBNC’s subsidiary operations assist the federal government with renewable energy contracting options whether it’s wind, solar, or hydro and BBNC will keep looking for more opportunities within the region to lower energy costs.

Q: Will there be another business start-up offered again? I have a business idea I’d like to submit.

A: Bristol Bay Development Fund is offering Path to Prosperity for a minimum of two cycles. Individuals and businesses can prepare for the next application by visiting www.bbnc.net and reviewing the official rules and guidelines and use the 2019 application form as a guide in developing a business concept. If you have any additional questions, please email [email protected].

Comment: Thank you to BBNC for its continued work on the Pebble mine issue and for the shareholder related survey it conducted this year, which showed continued overwhelming opposition to the project from my fellow shareholders, because it unacceptably threatens our world’s last great wild salmon fisheries.
