CUSTOMER SERVICE

Not from dams or desalination plants – Bunbury’s water is pumped by Aqwest from the Yarragadee Aquifer. This large, underground fresh water source lies deep underground and relies on rainfall, which percolates through the ground, for its recharge.Given the continuing decline in rainfall in the South West in recent decades, it remains a limited resource which must be conserved and protected. The water used now will affect the amount of water available in the future.

NEW WATER SERVICES GENERAL MANAGER

As temperatures reach peaks during summer, Aqwest urges its customers to resist the temptation to increase the amount of water used on gardens to avoid high bills. The price of water increases based on how much is used. Based on water costs as of 1 July, 2019, the first 150kL costs $1.05 per kL (1 kL equals 1000 litres).Once more than 150kL is used, the price increases to $1.94 per kL. The cost of water used above 500 kL a year increases to $3.43 per kL.People who use too much water too quickly in Spring and Summer move up to the higher tariff level and continue to pay these higher costs for the rest of the year. The average residential water use last year was 243 kL.

INCREASED WATERING WILL INCREASE YOUR BILL
