Security Awareness – Protect your customers, protect yourself!

You only have to watch the news for a few minutes to see the violence that is hap-pening all over the country. Kentucky is not immune to this violence and recentlylottery players have been targeted because of suspected winnings.

Below are a couple of reminders to keep you and your customers safe:

• Be mindful of people hanging around your store. If you have a bad feeling about someone, make sure other employees are aware.

• When training employees, please place emphasis on being discreet when discussing a player’s winnings within earshot of the general public.

Being aware of the people around you and hanging out in your store is the first stepin protecting yourself and your customers!

Lottery Goes Online: Players Spend at least $20 at Retailer, Get Extra $5 From LotteryTraining Begins in AprilThe Kentucky Lottery is expecting to launch online sales of draw and Instant Playgames in late April or May to eligible Kentuckians. Beginning in April, sales represen-tatives will visit your stores to train retail staff about the process for funding a play-er’s online account through iFunds and iGifts.

Key points to know:• The draw games will include: Powerball, Mega Millions and Kentucky Cash Ball. There will be six Instant Play games priced between $.50 and $3.

• There are two ways a player can fund an account at retail:• iGifts are similar to gift certificates; the player will buy the iGift and receive a voucher receipt. The player would then enter the code found on the iGift player voucher after logging into the account where the money should be applied.

• iFunds are added directly into the player’s account. The player brings in the printed Player Card or pulls up the card on the player’s phone; the retailer scans the bar code to link the transaction directly to the player’s online wallet.

• For every iGift or iFund purchase of $20 or more, players earn a $5 bonus in their accounts. Retailers will receive commission on the purchase amount only. The Kentucky Lottery is responsible for the cost of the bonus award. The promotion will be available for at least the first six months after launch.

With the launch, we will continue to look for future opportunities to encourageLottery purchases at retail. In other states, retail sales related to funding for onlineplay and general lottery tickets have increased as awareness of the Lottery brand hasincreased.
