To register a Touch Toy, only 2 steps are necessary:

2.2.1 Choose connectionIt is important to configure the internet connection first, in order to be able to implement the Touch Toy regis-
trationdataafterwards.Todothis,selectmenuitem„Step1-Chooseconnection“toconfiguretheexisting
internet connection.
The following options are available:
• ADSL->InternetconnectionwithDSLModem(PPPoE,PPTP)
• LAN->Internetconnectionwithlocalnetwork(LAN,DHCPServer/Router)
• WLAN->Internetconnectionwithwirelesslocalnetwork(DHCPormanualIP-configuration
possible)

ATTENTION: No USB ADSL modem / router is supported!
Touch Toy hardware only supports Ethernet modems/routers
(aconnectionofanADSLmodem/routerwith theTouchToynetworkadapterhas tobeprovidedbyan
Ethernet network cable).
IfnoDHCP-router isconnectedwith theADSLmodem, theADSLnetworksettingsmustbeconfigured
manually.7
BecarefulwhichtypeofADSL-accessisavailable.CurrentlyPPTPandPPPoEarethemostwidelyused
ADSL-transmissionprotocols.YoucangetfurtherinformationabouttheexistingADSLconnectionandthe
requiredADSLnetworkaddressesfromthenetworkadministratororyourADSL-provider.
ThefollowingADSL-networkaddressesarerequired:
• Terminal IP address -onlynecessarywithPPTP!(standardIP10.0.0.140)
• Router IP address-onlynecessarywithPPTP!(standardIP10.0.0.138)

Example of a single-location system via ADSL-modem without router:

2.2.4 Internet connection with LANIftheLANtypeofconnectionwasselected,thereisachoicebetweentwopossibilities:
• Automatic network configuartion via DHCP
• Manual network configuartion
Automatic network configuration via DHCP:
IftheconnectednetworksupportsDHCP(DynamicHostConfigurationProtocol),allnetworksettingsare

automaticallyreceivedfromtheterminal.Itisnotnecessarytoconfigurethenetworksettingsmanually.
Inamulti-locationsystemarouter(DHCPconfigured)mightbeinstalledbetweentheADSL-modemandthe
terminals.ADHCP-routerautomaticallyconfiguresallADSLsettings.

ThecablefromtheADSLmodemisconnectedwiththerouter‘s inputsocketandtheoutputsocketare
linked via Ethernet network cables with the Touch Toy terminals network adapter.
Manual network configuration
The network settings must be configured manually. The connected network does not support DHCP. The
followingnetworkaddressesarerequiredforamanualconfiguration(contactthenetworkadministratorif
necessary):

2.2.5 Internet connection with LANWLAN adapter installation
ConnecttheWLANadaptertothebluecolouredUSBport(modem)ofthecomputerunit.Switchoffthe
terminal and switch it on again.

WLAN settings in the network menu
1. Select the available WLAN USB adapter, which is connected to the Touch Toy computer unit
(„Available WLAN adapter“).
2. Select the according WLAN network which the Touch Toy terminal should use to access the internet
(„Available WLAN networks“).9
3. To protect the WLAN network against unauthorized users we recommend you to activate a data
encryption method.These data encryption methods are available: WPA, WPA2, WEP 64 bit or 128 bit

2.2.6 Internet connection with UMTSWithanUMTSModemyouhavethepossibilitytoconnectyourTouchToyTerminalevenifnophonejackis
immediatelyavailable.TheUMTSmodemworkswirelessandoperateswithaSIMcardofamobileinternet
provider.EachSIMcardwithactivatedUMTSfunctionisworking.Amonthlydatavolumeofapproximately
1024 MB is necessary. ATTENTION: The PIN query must be disabled at the SIM card.

Initstring
AspecialinitstringisrequiredtoconnectthemodemviaUMTS-mode.
The initstring is made up the following way:
WiththeexceptionofUMTS-provider‘sAPN(AccessPointName),theinitstringalwaysremains
thesameforallproviders.Thefirstpartalwaysremainsunchanged,onlytheAPN(secondpart)
adapts to the local provider.

The mobile phone provider, who has equipped you with the SIM card, provides you with the

2.2.7 Internet connection with GPRSTheconfigurationoftheconnectionisexactlythesameasUMTS(see2.2.6InternetconnectionwithUMTS).
However,internetprovidersusedifferentinistringsforGPRSconfiguration.Themobilephoneprovider,who
has equipped you with the SIM card, provides you with the required GPRS settings.
2.2.8 Connection TestAftertheinternetconnectiongetsdefined,thepossibilityexiststoimmediatelytesttheconfiguredinternet
connectionifasuccessfulconnectiontotheinternetcanbeestablished.
Thereforepressthe„Connectiontest“button.
Pressthe„connect“buttontotesttheconfiguredinternetconnection(dependingonthequalityofthecon-12
nection,itcantakeuptooneminute).Theactualstatusoftheexistinginternetconnectionisdisplayedin
the field „Connection status“:
• notconnected-Noconnectiontotheinternetestablished
• connecting-Tryingtoestablishaconnectiontotheinternet
• connected-Sucessfullyconnectedtotheinternet
If a successful connection to the internet is established, it ispossible to start thePING-test to test the
connection.ThePING-testsendsdatapacketstoacertain IPaddressandreceivespacketsagain from
thisselectedIPaddress.Consequentlyyoucannoticeifdatapacketscangetsendandreceivedfromthe
internet.

2.3 Register terminal
Afterhavingconfiguredthe internetconnection,selectmenu item„Register terminal“ toenterTouchToy
registration data.
Press the Button „Register terminal“, type in your personally User name and password and press the ENTER
button. To get your personal licence number, contact your regional Touch Toy distributor.

3 Transfer nowThefirstdatatransmissioncangetstartedafterhavingenteredallregistrationandconnectionsettings.As
soonasthefirstdatatransmissionhasbeencompletedsuccessfully,theautomaticdatatransferisactiva-
ted.
4 No network / resetAll network settings and registration data are deleted. However the Touch Toy terminal can get registered
again any time.
5 Connection testIs a firewall installed in the local network, there is the possibility that some ports are blocked, and several
TouchToyonlineapplicationswillnotwork.Insuchcasepleaseusetheconnectiontestmethodtoverify
theavailabilityofnecessaryports.
Following ports will be checked:
TCP: 80, 443, 2352, 5050, 5190
UDP: 2351, 2352, 2353, 2362, 2363, 6789
Startconnectiontestprocedureandcheckwhetherallfunctionaltestsweresuccessful.
Ifnecessarycontactthenetworkadministratorforthefirewallsettings.

DSL:
„Digital Subscriber Line“
DSLisatelecommunicationtechnologythatprovidesafast,permanentconnectiontotheInternetbyusing
thetwo-wirecoppercablefoundinalmosteveryhomeandoffice.
Eitherthesamerangeisavailableforthetransmissionineachdirection,orhowever-thatisthemore
oftenthecase-thechannelforreceivingdata(Downstream)ismoreefficientthanforsendingdata
(Upstream).ThereareseveraltypesofDSLandxDSLreferstothefamilyofDSLtechnologies:
The most common techniques permit 1.5 to 1.6 Mbps (megabit per second), which is at least 15 times
fasterthananISDNconnection.
ADSL:
„Asymmetric Digital Subscriber Line“
ThemostcommonformofDSLisADSL
Itentailsonehigh-speed,unidirectionaldatachannelandonelow-speed,bidirectionalcontrolchannel(ma-
kingitasynchronous).Basically,thismeansyoucandownloadfasterthanyoucanupload.ADSLsupports
data rates to 8 Mbps when receiving data (known as the downstream rate) and rates up to
1 Mbps when sending data (known as the upstream rate).
LAN:
„Local Area Network“
A local communication network in a relatively small, predetermined area (such as a room, a building, or a set
ofbuildings)consistingofoneormorecomputers(LANServer),workstations,anetworkoperatingsystem,
anuniformprotocolandspecialcablesascommunicationline.
Server:
AserveristhecontrolcomputeronaLAN,meaningitcontrolsthesoftware,accesstoprintersandother
partsofthenetwork.Ithousesinformationandrespondstorequestsforinformation.
Ethernet:
Networkprotocolforlocalnetworks
Ethernetrepresentsthemostcommontechnologyfortheconnectionoflocalnetworks(LANs).
Protocol:
A specification that describes how computers talk to each other on a network. A protocol is an established
methodofexchangingdataovertheInternet.
The most common protocols are : HTTP, IP, POP, PPP, SMTP, TCP/IP
DHCP:

„Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol“
A protocol that provides a mean to allocate IP address dynamically to computers on a LAN. It eliminates the
need to manually assign permanent IP addresses.
TCP/IP:
„Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol“
TheTCP/IPistheStandard-Internet-Protocol.
TheInternet-Protocol(IP)specifiesthetransmissionrouteforthedatapackages.TheTCPprotocol
guaranteesthatallsentbyteswillbereceivedcorrectly.TCP/IPistherefora„routable“protocol.
IP AdDress:
„InternetProtocol“-Address;
A numeric address that is given to computers connected to the Internet.
Gateway:
Asystem forexchanging informationacrossnetworks thatare incompatibleandusedifferentprotocols.
Basically,agatewayisacombinationofhardwareandsoftwarethatconnectstwodifferenttypesof
networkssothatinformationcangetexchanged.Thehardwaredevices(called„bridges“)andthe
computerprogramsperformthenecessarytranslations.
Subnet Mask:
AnumberusedtoidentifyasubnetworksothatanIPaddresscanbesharedonaLAN.
An IP address has two components, the network address and the host address.
DNS:
The Domain Name System (DNS) helps users to find their way around the Internet. Every computer on the
Internethasauniqueaddress-justlikeatelephonenumber-whichisarathercomplicatedstringofnum-
bers. It is called „IP address.“ But it is hard to remember everyone‘s IP address. The DNS makes it
easierbyallowingafamiliarstringofletters(the„domainname“)tobeusedinsteadofthearcane
IP address.
PPP:
„Point to Point Protocol“
ThePPPisadatatransmissionprotocolintheinternet,whichisusedformodem-connections.
PPPoE:
„PPP over Ethernet“
PPPoEistheuseofthenetworkprotocolPPPoveranEthernet-connection.PPPoEisneededtodayforthe
useofanADSLconnection(speciallyinGermany).
PPTP:
„Point to Point Tunneling Protocol“23
PPTPisanetworkprotocol,whichisusedforanADSL-access(speciallyinAustria).
DSL Modem:
TheDSLmodem,servesthetransmissionofdataoveraDSL-line.
Router:
ARouterisaswitching-computer,whichisinvolvedinestablishingaconnectioninacomputernetwork,e.g.
theinternet.Suchswitching-computersroutethedatapackagesonthebasisoftheaddresstothe
respective target computer. The address determines, to which other Router or personal computer the data
mustbesendtoandtheRouterdecidesforeachcase(temporallyanddistance-moderately)themost
favourableway.YoucanalsouseaRoutertofunctionasaswitching-computerbetweenseverallocal
networks(LANs)withauniformprotocol.
Splitter:
Asplitterseparateslanguagetraffic(e.g.atelephone)fromthedatatraffic.
OntheinterfacefordatatrafficanADSLmodemorroutingcanbepluggedon.
GPRS:
„General Packet Radio Service“
TheGPRSisanewnonvoicevalueaddedservicebasedontheIPprotocolthatallowsinformationtobe
sent and received across a GSM mobile telephone network.
TheconventionalGSMnetworkdatatransmissionratesareamaximumof9.6Kbps(bitpersecond),with
GPRStheoreticallyfarover100Kbpsarepossible.Howeversofartheactuallycarriedoutvaluesareapprox.
40Kbps.
