A couple of seconds after the fight commences 3 portals will appear as shown on the map. About 5 seconds after that, beams will go from the portals to Netherspite. These beams buff Netherspite when they hit him:• Red: decreases damage taken by Netherspite• Blue increases damage dealt by Netherspite• Green heals Netherspite

It is important to interrupt these beams to prevent Netherspite from being buffed. This can be achieved by standing between Netherspite and the portals.

While stood in the beam, players receive a buff which stacks once per second.

• Red: you have aggro, decreased damage taken, increased defense and HP regen but (after an initial boost to HP) max HP decreases.• Blue: you have increased spell damage dealt and healing received but an increase in spell damage taken.• Green: you have increased healing and mana regen, decreased spell cost but decreased maximum mana pool.

The negative effects of the stacking buffs mean that you need to switch the person blocking the beam once in a while (more of which later).

One of Netherpsite’s abilities is that he drops voids on the ground which cause you damage if you stand in them (similar to the voidwalker boss in Arcatraz).

If you are in the green or blue beam you should take evasive action by moving towards either Netherspite or your portal. DO NOT SIDESTEP as this will take you out of the beam and allow Netherspite to be buffed.

If you are in the red beam do not move if a void appears beneath you. Firstly, the buff you have will prevent the void from doing any significant damage;

Secondly, it is important that the tank does not move Netherspite from the middle, as the beams will follow him, meaning that the other blockers are no longer in the way

Blue and red blockers will need to switch midway through Phase 1 to prevent the stacking debuff from becoming problematic. The switch should occur before a blocker has received 25 stacks. Seeing as these stack at the same rate, the tank (red) can call for the switch and blue can switch at the same time (in theory reducing the amount of babble in TS…)

To switch, the player picking up the beam needs to stand between the blocker and the portal. The old blocker is now free to move.

The switch of the red beam blockers needs to be fairly tight, to avoid pulling Netherspite from the centre. It may be worth the new blocker standing on the old blocker’s spot, who then moves.

The green beam blocker can last the entire phase without switching. Some sources suggest that you use a non-caster to block the green beam, thus making the decreased mana pool debuff irrelevant, however Netherspite has a large base and a mêlée DPS green blocker may inadvertently allow the beam to hit Netherspite. Besides, the phat heals you deliver are too good to ignore.

Once a blocker has left the beam it cannot block a beam of that colour for another 90 seconds, though they can block beams of another colour.

The non-blocking players should fulfil their usual role (healing or DPS). The healers should be positioned so that they can cover the whole party between them.

The players who are due to take over from a red or blue blocker should stand nearby so they can take over smoothly

The players who are not due to block during this phase should stand in attack range and range of healers, making sure they don’t accidentally break the beam. It may be wise for caster DPS to stand near to the blue beam in case they need to stand in for a designated blocker.

Moreover, non-blocking players are probably best off on the opposite side to the red beam as if they accidentally break the red beam they will pull aggro.

After around 1 minute of phase 1, the portals and beams will disappear, Netherspite will turn a darker blue colour and look like he has been banished. At this point everyone should run to the windows to get away from his AOE attacks. At this point people should bandage and heal. The healer who has been in the green beam will need an innervate, if there’s one going.

Phase 2 lasts for 30 seconds. 5 seconds before the end of Phase 2 the next designated red blocker needs to grab aggro on Netherspite.

At the end of phase 2 Netherspite goes back into Phase 1. The portals will reappear in the same spots but the colour may have switched, so blockers need to be on their toes. The phases cycle until Netherspite or the party is dead.

Other pointers:• Arguably the most important beam to block is the green one, so if at the start of the phase the designated blocker is being slow at getting into place and you are nearby, you should block til they get there.• Blue blockers should try to remain fairly close to Netherspite to remain within healing range. This means that following a blue beam switch, the new blocker should move in.
