Electrical Power Requirements

Each 1000-3 system requires two separately protected power circuits. The power require-ments for each circuit are listed in Table 2-1.

Note: IBM Netezza recommends that the power supplied to the rack be uninterruptible.

Space requirements

Each rack in the system has a footprint of 25.5 in. (64.8 cm) by 43 in. (109.2 cm). An additional 60 in. (152.4 cm) of clear space is required in front of each rack and 30 in. (76.2 cm) behind the rack. This is to allow unrestricted airflow and access to the system.

Note: The 1000-series systems are housed in a rack that is 1.5 in. (3.8 cm) wider than previous Netezza systems. This means that the 1000-series system is wider than a stan-dard 24 in. (61 cm) data center floor tile. Plan accordingly.

A full height system rack is 87.5 in. (222 cm) tall including its shipping pallet. Without the pallet, the rack stands 79.5 in. (202 cm) tall including casters. Allow for this when plan-ning the movement of the system from the unloading point to its permanent location.

Figure 2-1 shows the space requirements for each rack.

Note: The 1000-series system is housed in a rack that is 1.5 in. (3.8 cm) wider than previ-ous Netezza systems. This means that the 1000-series system is wider than a standard 24 in.

Figure 3-1 shows the space requirements for each rack.

The 1000-48 consists of four racks. The racks are bolted together into a group of racks called a pod. In this system there is a single pod of four racks.

RackEach rack in the system has a footprint of 25.5 in. (64.8 cm) by 43 in. (109.2 cm). An additional 60 in. (152.4 cm) of clear space is required in front of each rack and 30 in. (76.2 cm) behind the rack. This is to allow unrestricted airflow and access to the system.

Note: The racks that are used for 1000-series systems are 1.5 in. (3.8 cm) wider than those used in previous Netezza systems. This means that each rack in the 1000-series sys-tem is wider than a standard 24 in.

PodsThe 1000-48 consists of one 4-rack pod. The space requirements for the pod are listed in Table 8-1.

PodsThe 1000-120 consists of three separate pods. The space requirements for each pod are listed in Table 12-1.
