How to raise the money...

THINK BIG! The average sponsorship level for the Nepal trek is £3000 so

here are some tried and tested ideas to get your fundraising

off to a flying start.

Tell everyone you know what you are up to – the more people

you approach the more sponsors you will get.Try and get

them to pay you upfront and a good tip is to try and start

each sponsor form with a generous donation, this will set a

high standard for others to follow.

Approach your employer; many companies operate

sponsorship schemes that match pound for pound!

Here are some ideas:

Arrange a £10 menu at a local restaurant on one £200

of their quiet nights and charge 10 friends £20!

(Do this twice as it’s so easy)

Hold a karaoke in your local pub for a percentage £200

of the drinks sales

2 car boot sales (get your family and friends to £150

have a clear out!)

Ask your local school to hold a non-uniform day £120

Place collection boxes in 5 outlets £80

Ask friends and family to take part in a local £200sponsored walk/fun run or maybe even

organise your own

Hold a quiz night with raffle £200

Dinner party or barbecue for 15 friends who £150

each pay £10

Hold a skills auction where you rope in friends £300

with certain skills (hairdressing / reflexology etc)

to donate their skills for free

Persuade a friend to shave their head/legs/sit in £100

a bath of custard!

2 Friday night Three-legged Pub Crawls £300Ask 10 close friends to write to everyone they know £300

Collect at a local football ground/supermarket £200

(get permission!)

Ask 10 business clients or suppliers for £30 £300

Ask friends and family for sponsorship money £200

instead of Birthday/Christmas presents

TOTAL £3,000!

Tell the world! You are doing something quite amazing – make sure you tell

EVERYONE – and let your local newspaper/radio know, too! With a bit of thought, planning and some help from your

friends, you’ll have reached the target before you know it

Day 1:Depart London for Kathmandu.

Day 2:Arrive Kathmandu and transfer to the hotel for a trip briefing

and dinner.

Day 3:We head back to the airport this morning to get our

spectacular flight to Pokhara. On arrival we load up the buses

and head for a short drive to our starting point for the trek.

Before heading off we will have lunch and organise all of theequipment. The trek today will take us from Chitpani to

Tibetan Camp, where will go through rice field and small

villages.

Trekking time approximately 3-4 hours

Day 4:After breakfast we trek along the valley towards Tallokot

1234m. We follow the Seti Nadi River through rice paddies and

small villages as it slowly climbs. The sections vary from being

steep and stepped whilst others outline the mountainside and

gradually climb.Whilst trekking the views we experience will

be of small villages perched on the hillsides and of terracedfields. After lunch we continue to our camp which tonight is

Ghalegaon at an altitude of 1641m.The tough uphill will be

made worthwhile from the views at the top.

Trekking time approximately 6-8 hours

Day 5:After tea in our tents and breakfast we head out for a tough

day which climbs higher through alpine meadows and

rhododendron forests. Our path takes us to the grassy wooded

knoll of Tara Top where there is a spectacular 360 degree view

of most the Annapurna massif. The Himalayan foothills of

central Nepal drop away from us towards the Ganges and theIndian plains. We camp here at an altitude of 2800m and enjoy

the stunning clear skies and a sunset like no other.

Trekking time approximately 6-8 hours

Day 6:We wake up this morning to a stunning sun rise over the peak,

illuminating the magnificent views surrounding us.We head

off along a trail which follows the 2500m contour and trek

through forests with overhanging mosses and lichens. We

descend to the scenic Gurung village of Parju, which is set

before a backdrop of snowy peaks.Camp for this evening is

set at the edge of the village in a large open area at 1999m.

Trekking time approximately 5-7 hours

Day 7: Today we are heading for Lamakhet set at 870m. We start

trekking with a long decent along a stepped track that drops

into the valley again through terraced fields and a small

village. It’s definitely tough on the legs today as we decent

780m in this one decent. At the bottom of the valley we follow

a path to Setigaon and then continue to descend along the

Mardi Khola river where we will stop for lunch. Hopefully the

weather will be clear so we can enjoy the views along the way

including that of Annapurna II which is breathtaking, with its

huge icefall and glazier marking the origin of the river. We

continue to trek down the river valley to our camp set on the

banks of the river, tonight will be our last under the stars.

Trekking time approximately 7-9 hours

Day 8:Breakfast this morning is your last at a camp as tonight you will

be in a hotel bed! We have a half-day’s trek that takes us to the

edge of the Pokhara valley. The start is steep but this then leads

us to a decent before a twisting path takes us to the bottom of

the valley. After lunch we walk to our transport and then return

to Pokhara where we will have our celebration meal.

Trekking time approximately 4 hours

Day 9:We take the short scenic flight back to Kathmandu where you

will be free to explore the city which will trigger a sensory

overload, the sights, smells and sounds will etch themselves on

your memory. You can visit areas such as the Durbar Square,

Bodhnath and Swayambhunath and the riverside Hindu

complex of Pashupatinath. Spend the evening haggling for

your souvenirs in the shops and markets.

Day 10:We head back to the airport for our flight home

Day 11:

We arrive back into London in the early morning.
