THE FACTS
• Limited systems are available in the industry supporting DaCAS operations.
• Targets in FAC supporting systems are acquired through a large variety of
sensors: sUAV, UAV, ROVER, TLE, LRF, RAP, AWACS etc
• Target information is transmitted to the airborne assets via different and usually
incompatible TDLs.
• The airborne systems allow no adjustments and customization during CAS
operations.
• When sUAVs are deployed in the battlefield, very little capabilities are offered to
the dismounted units.
• There are so many divisions, sectors and factors involved in DaCAS
interoperability.
• In NATO operations there are serious translation and communication issues
depending on the fluency in English language of the involved partes.
THE PROBLEMS
• There is no interoperability between deployed systems from different vendors.
• Compatibility between airborne platforms having incompatible TDLs is of
paramount importance.
• It is critical for the pilots to be able to customize CAS messaging according to
mission requirements.
• Dismounted units are exposed to enemy but also to fratricide Fires.
• Dismounted SF teams have very limited battlefield information, when UAVs are
deployed in the area, since all real-time information from the IMINT source is
transmitted exclusively to the POD pilot.
• There is no system that could accommodate decision makers in building an
interoperable and secure battlefield theater of operations when Forces from
different NATO Countries are participating; using their legacy systems.
• Pilots and ground forces face serious communications problems, related to their
fluency in English language, especially in Joint NATO CAS operations. It is the
hilarious but realistic “ What are you sinking of“ problem.
THE SOLUTION
• NEMESiS is an open source and open architecture system, used either as a C2/C3i
platform or as a middle layer platform between legacy and C4i systems. It’s interoperability
with SPAWAR’s Universal Link System is demonstrating the flexibility of inter-exchanging
data from the majority of ground and aerial assets bearing incompatible links.
• NEMESiS is currently compatible with the majority of the existing targeting
sensors.Interoperability is also guaranteed for sensors or systems to be appointed by the
user in a rapid and inexpensive manner. Integration process usually lasts less than one
month from tasking.
• NEMESiS uDL allows the exchange of targeting information between any a/c or h/p,
regardless the airborne links. The philosophy of uDL is to offer all CAS capabilities to
assets having NO data links. Legacy a/c and h/p become full functional CAS assets.
• uDL is fully customizable according to the pilot / mission needs, even on the spot.
• Dismounted units have all the power of a C2i platform in the smallest form factor globally.
• Dismounted SF teams may have a complete picture of the theater of operations.
• Full interoperability is provided amongst different NATO Countries by using the uDL kit.
• NEMESiS UDL can translate, on the fly ,9-line or 15-line messages in order to optimize
the cooperation effectiveness in speechless DaCAS operations. Greek language data
field conversion is already added.
NEMESiS UDL
INTEROPERABILITY BETWEEN DEPLOYED SYSTEMS
NEMESiS UDL utilizes the airborne radio and sniffs data messages from the
voice channel.
It converts message in a NATO-compatible format , customized for target
missions and plots acquired information in a 9-line or 15-line format.
COMPATIBILITY WITH EXTERNAL SENSORS
• NEMESiS forwards targeting data acquired via the 4DAR process, directly to various
Ground, Maritime and Aerial weapon platforms that can accept geographic coordinates for
targeting purposes. Even unattended infantry machine guns can accept the targeting data
and slew towards the target autonomously.
• NEMESiS is interoperable with a variety of geopointing modules, ROVER receivers, LRFs,
military GPS, sUAV, military R/C and ground S/R platforms. The system has been
extensively tested, counting more than 300 runs to maximize its performance with the
available sensors.

COMPATIBILITY BETWEEN AIRBORNE ASSETS
NEMESiS provides interoperability between jet fighters, multi-role combat aircraft, helicopter and
airborne radar systems allowing the exchanged of preconfigured, custom made or manually inserted briefing
messages.
The recipient of the message can not only auto-acknowledge the message receipt but also to reply by
sending same format messages, receiving respectively an ACK from the recipient of the new message.
Message format is universal, following NATO standards (9-line, 15 line etc) and can be customized
according to the operation needs.
NEMESiS UDL requires no modification of these assets and is ready for use with the existing gear
without additional adaptations or costs.

Fully customizeable CAS messages on the fly
• NEMESiS uDL has 10 preconfigurable soft buttons.
• Each button can correspond to a specific action.
• Example: SB 1 call sign, SB 2 roger wilco, SB3 abort, SB4
TOT 5 minutes etc
• All fields of 9-line and 15-line briefs can be customized.
• The A/C can send text messages to warships, military
vehicles, FACs and remote C3i centers.
• A fullly functional airborne C2 platform, that needs no
training!!
NEMESiS transmits
the location of FF directly
to the Air Crews
(the Strikers know where FF are)
NEMESiS prevents transmission
if FF are within Fragments Range
9 Line Briefing Card

Fratricide Prevention Capabilities
Embedded unique Fratricide Prevention features warn the NEMESiS user and the air
crews on a potential Friendly Force engagement:
NEMESiS displays on the same environment with the target :
A. The location of the Friendly Forces
• (The user can input the FF locations manually) or
• (Automatically as inputs from BFT radios)
Β. The Fragments Coverage Plots of the selected weapon
• (The selected weapon is received as input from the “On Station” message) or
• (The user can select the weapons used manually)
NEMESiS will issue warnings if FFs are within the fragments range of the selected weapon
to prevent or call off the strike
NEMESiS will warn the dispatched FF through the use of the LynX Long Range BFT radio
(vibration) that they are within fragments range

Provides battlefield information to dismounted SF Teams
• NEMESiS is providing the actual picture of the theater of
operations to the dismounted SF teams displaying what
happens in the field, exactly when and where it happens.
•NEMESiS is a Force multiplier, especially in small units
operations. A team of two has all the power of a battalion
achieving achieve tactical superiority.
•All the complex techniques and advanced algorithms that
NEMESiS is running are transparent to the user. NEMESiS
preloaded modes allow inexperienced personnel to operate
NEMESiS efficiently from the very first time. All is required
is turn on your gear and you’re ready for action.
•NEMESiS uDL is the lightest, smallest and most complete
SF platform connecting the dismoounted forces with
supporting assets.

Smallest form factor for 9-line briefing
A dismounted soldier with a cell phone can transmit 9-Line and free text directly to the
A/C , to an artillery platform or to a remote IDM FAC
Utlimate interoperability in Joint CAS NATO Ops
• NEMESiS uDL is a system built for those Military Forces that have no
communication means in CAS NATO ops.
• A NATO team equipped with NEMESiS uDL and a military radio can
participate in CAS operations with equal effectiveness and support.
• Letter i in NEMESiS stands for interoperability. With whom, with what and
for what are questions only for the operations’ planning executives.
• Once an operation is planned, a NEMESiS uDL executes.
Translation on the fly
• NEMESiS is built to serve multillingual user interfaces.
• When the recipient selects the desired language the display changes on the fly,
translating all fields and text messages to the selected language.
• NEMESiS is currently developping a predetermined speech to text import procedure,
whereas the pilot will be able to create messages without typing.
• Greek language is already implemented in the multi-lingual User Interface.
• NEMESiS TOF (Translator on the Fly) is resolving the hilarious but realistic problem
of “ What are you sinking about?” problem between NATO Forces.
Accuracy related issues
• NEMESiS TP module uses metadata to calculate target positioning.
• The system utilizes WGS84 format when allocating target coordinates,
avoiding translations that can result to TLE.
• Numerous successful tests have verifired optimal accuracy not just in
flat surfaces, but also in terrain with relief features.
• The usage of external sensors can result to errors in excess of 400m.
• NEMESiS uses a unique algorithm to optimize the accuracy of target
coordinates that are extracted from external sensors and IMINT
sources.
NEMESiS uDL added values Tetra Communications Group
• Warfighers, Decision Makers, FACs, pilots, marines have the same power
to control the situation stealthy and remotely.
• Once a shot is made on a target, NEMESiS offers the by point and click
rectification for Fire For Effect without guess work. Time is always the
most critical factor in target acquisition after the initial shot is
fired. Especially if it is moving target.
• The intended utility of NEMESiS uDL is oriented to small unit operations
multiplying greatly the Force Factor, but also to high attitude platforms that
have incompatible or no data links to support a CAS mission.
• NEMESiS uDL can be a supporting platform for artillery troops providing
real-time accurate target coordinates, automatically turning the machine
gun if mounted in geo-referenced rotor.
• SAR operations can benefit from the fact that pilots can exchange
messages in an interoperable manner without any ground support.
