Nellore city past and present scenar ios ,

continues----

Once Nel lore is a small town surr ounded by potential

vil lages and agrari an dependent. The nameNellore is derived

fr om the Tamil word “neli’ vooru and it has become Nellore

and previously as per history the name was “Vikrama

Simhapuri”

The main trade on those days is Rice and famous for Nellore

“molagolakulu” r ice even today, and most of the people

demands for this quali ty of rice through out I ndia.

The Nellore is having highly potential vill ages

sur rounding by, due to r iver penna delta lands and the farmers wil l harvest 3 crops per annum .

Past :

The villages are city serving in all aspects like milk,

vegetables ,rice and town serves the vil lages in respect of

education and famous for venkatagir i rajas coll ege and most

of the students from vil lages prosecuted their studies from

this coll egeonly.

Now the city also transformed as a hub for the Corporate

medical i nstituti ons ,and for specialty medical f acil iti es with

infr astructure .

The new Medical insti tutions, University and Engineeri ng

coll eges gave a big platform for lecturers, associate

professors, professors and for general staff. And does

attracted hugemigrations fr om vari ous parts of India.

The above factors also resulted in socio economic

development and increased the demand for housing and thus the individual economy and purchasing power has

been increased, and changed the li fe styles of Nellore city.

But at present the existing Inf rastructure is not matching

with the density levels of the city, and also the

in fr astructur e was not up graded matching with the above

developments.

I n addition to this now the city has been transforming as a

port ci ty, power ci ty and SEZ city as shown in next sl ide.

Krishnapatnam Port

It is estimated that by 2030, about 1.5million people will be

residing in Nellore city as per new master plan report but

the bifurcation of the state will also influence the city in

drastic changes in the pace of the city. This change is not

considered in the master plan.

The increasing number of opportunities and abundant of

employment happening in the area with three major ports and

port related projects like1. KRISHNAPATNAM PORT

2. RAMAYA PATNAM PORT

3. DUGARAJAPATNAM PORT

and industries in SEZs like APACHE, MENAKUR, SRI

CITY etc.,

AP GENCO, KRISHNAPATNAM Power distribution etc.,

and many more Lubricant plants, sugar refineries, cement

and steel manufacturing plants coming up around the ports.

SBQ Steels with 0.5 Million MT steel integrated plant is

already operational near the port. other industrial

developments like Leather park and IFFCO Kisan SEZ are

also coming up around the port.

Up coming Govt Projects for Nellore Municipal corporation

To have a effective control andenforcement in the region of Nellore andto have systematic and integrateddevelopment and to up grade theinfrastructure and to implement

development projects, the Governmentof AP proposed the NUDA

NUDA PROPOSAL

The jurisdiction of NUDA is proposed to be covered

with an area of 7169.93 sq kms around Nellore City

and consists of Nellore Municipal Corporation, 5

Municipalities, 1 Nagar panchayat and 33 Mandals

consisting 680 village settlements as shown on the

map below.

In order to relive the traffic

pressure on the mini by-pass road ,GNT road ,NH 5 and other majornet works of the city and also to de-congest the city core and toencourage satellite town ships andCBD’S the Government of AP hasproposed an outer ring road .
