negative test rating of nov schaffer pipe ram

Note to File GOM Deepwater Oct. 1, 2014 Scope: BOP limitations to perform a negative test. Discussion: This NOV document ER01198 is located in the negative testing folder. Rams tested: 3-1/2" x 5-7/8" NXT ram, similar but not exactly what we have. Same operator size (14”), and we're using 3-1/2" x 6-5/8" NXT rams. Conclusions: Looks like with increase in operator pressure to 3k we'd be able to negative test with the rams to at least a differential of 2500-2800psi. The risk of ram/seal damage associated with developing a small leak would be minor. By closing two VBRs, applying 200-500 psi in the annulus between the closed rams, and monitoring on the choke line, any leak should be quickly noticed.
