Summer has arrived along with in-
creases in temperatures and the arri-
val of sticky humidity. This combina-
tion makes it difficult to stay indoors
and sew. While taking a break from
sewing you may want to take ad-
vantage of some of the local attrac-
tions; museums, theater or botanical
gardens. As you enjoy the sights, pay
special attention to new color combi-
nations, shapes or design. Now think
of this in terms of what you could
translate into a new sewing project.
Take a leap and use a new color com-
bination, texture or technique, some-
thing outside your comfort zone. It is
good for all of us to stretch our crea-
tivity in a new direction.
We finally have a name on the ballot
for president, Jan Steffen. The balance
of the CAB has agreed to run for re-
election. Mark your calendar for our
Annual Meeting in the Rancho Bernar-
do area. Susan Lazear, will present our
program, “Where do fabrics gets their
name”. I am thrilled to tell you that
Sandra and her fabrics will also join us.
Congratulations to all of you that en-
tered items at the San Diego County
Fair. This is an excellent way to show
off to the attendees of the fair what
we do as an organization!!!!! For
those of you that won an award, my
hat is off to you. We all owe a special
thanks to Pam Burleton for her time
organizing and setting up the booth,
not to mention scheduling all the vol-
unteers.
As I write this I am in the final stages
of getting ready for the ASG Confer-
ence in Indianapolis; bitter sweet as it
will be my last conference as your
president….
Now back to my sewing machine.
Looking forward to seeing all of you at
the annual meeting.
Happy Sewing
Jackie
COMING SOON!
Watch for a survey, coming soon, on your preference for our next
bus trip.

Editor’s Comment:
This may seem funny at the time, but we all know of instances where fabric and related items did
not go where they would do the most good. Think about where you would want your sewing
possessions to go to a good home, and then print this page and put it with your important pa-
pers.
Fabricholic’s Will:
Being of sound mind and body, I __________________ record my last will
and testament, knowing that hereby (insert name) _________________my
___________________ (husband, sister, daughter, etc.) has no appreciation of, or
in some instances knowledge of, my extensive fabric collection deposited
throughout the house.
Knowing also that ________________ has notified the local thrift store
should I precede him or her to the great fabric shop in the sky, to pick up
and dispose of the aforementioned collection.
Therefore, I do will this collection, and all collections related to it, to my
dear fabric preservationist.
It is my wish that she, upon hearing of my death and the inability to take
it with me, come to my home and stack my entire collection in my studio.
She should then purchase refreshments for all my friends, and they shall
gather in that room and remember me, then peacefully divide the collec-
tion amongst themselves.
Be forewarned, 1 will be hovering over this process! The rest of my worldly
possessions (car, stocks, house, etc.) can go to those who do not understand
this event.

MURPHY SEWING LAWS!
Fusible interfacings always fuse to the iron
The serge only eats the customer's garment
If you need 6 buttons, you will find 5 in your button box
The seam you meant to rip out is invariably the other one
When you are in a hurry, the needle eye is always too small
The fabric you forgot to pre-shrink will always shrink the most
The pattern you wanted to make again will have one key piece missing
If you drop something out of your sewing basket, it will be your box of pins,
with the cover off
Whenever the construction process is going well, the bobbin thread runs out
The magnitude of the goof is in direct proportion to the cost of the fabric
Your lost needle will be found by your son, husband or brother-in-law,
while walking around barefoot
Facings tend to be sewn to the wrong side (Opposite sides attract)
Collar points don't match, and you've trimmed all the seams
The iron never scorches the garment until its final pressing
The steam iron only burps rusty water on light silk fabric
The sewing machine light usually burns out on Sunday
Pinking shears get dull just by looking at them
Gathering threads always break in the middle
The scissors cut easiest past the buttonhole
Matching edges don’t
You will spill your pin box once per garment
As yee sew, so shall yee rip
