Advise on duties for health and safety in the workplace;

management system through monitoring, auditing, and review.

When you achieve the IG, you will be a huge asset to your employer. You will make a real differ-
ence in the workplace. You will have the knowledge, understanding and skills to help protect the
health and safety of all workers. You will also be able to help your employer to comply with the
law and good practice, as well as help them avoid the huge costs from incidents and ill-health.
The IG has two unit assessments; you must achieve a ‘Pass’ in each unit to be awarded the
qualification. You will have five years to complete your qualification. The five-year period starts
from the date you passed your first successful unit (we call this the ‘declaration date’). Any unit
that is five or more years old will not count towards the qualification and you will need to retake
this/these unit(s) if you still want to complete the qualification.

SYLLABUS (LESSON PLAN)
The lesson plan is based on 21 or 10 days of teaching, with full time and part time sessions respec-
tively. However, the trainer has the freedom to extend the training for two more days based on the
personal judgement of the class and participants.
This lesson plan has been developed to fulfil the requirements of Element 1-11 of IGC (2019 syllabus
version) of the NEBOSH International General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety. It is
likely that some learners will have practical experience of some of the issues covered in the course.
Others are likely to have little or no knowledge of the subject matter. In the introduction at the start of
the course, the individual learners’ present knowledge level should be assessed.
