Course contentThe NEBOSH National Health and Well-being Certificate covers the main legal requirements for health and well-being in the UK, the identification and management of related risk, and the practical application of this knowledge. This is reflected in the two units that comprise the qualification.

Unit NHC1 Managing health and well-being in the workplace

• Identifying risks to health at work

• Learning how to manage sickness absence and implement a return to work programme

• Prevention and management of work-related stress

• Promoting equality and preventing disability discrimination

• Protecting health at work

• Working effectively with health professionals

• Dealing with mental health at work

Unit NHC2 Health and well-being practical application• A workplace-based practical assignment that covers the

application of understanding related to the NHC1 unit.

NEBOSH Health & Well-being Certificate

The NEBOSH Certificate in the Management of Health and Well-being at Work provides a broad understanding of health and well-being issues that affect workplaces and enables the risks that arise to be managed effectively. As well as covering a range of workplace health and well-being hazards and methods of control, it includes the UK legislation relating to the management of these important risks.

Our classroom courses involve face-to-face teaching and provide an opportunity to discuss the topics with other students and the tutor and would suit those that enjoy interaction in a classroom environment. In particular, it has a number of features that may be helpful to those students who have not done formal study and examinations for some time.

Designed for: No previous health and well-being knowledge is required and it is an excellent course for:

• Managers, supervisors and worker representatives

• Those responsible for health and well-being strategies and reviews in the workplace

• Health personnel that wish to obtain a better understanding of occupational health and well-being

Outline: This highly recommended course is based on a one week study period that covers units NHC1 and NHC2. The NEBOSH National Health and Well-being Certificate provides a valuable overview of the management of health and well-being risks and is a sound basis for further professional study, such as the NEBOSH National General Certificate and National Diploma.

Classroom taught course

AssessmentThe qualification is divided into two assessed units, each of which is assessed separately. Assessment is by one written examination (Unit NHC1) and a work-based practical examination (Unit NHC2). All units must be completed within 5 years to achieve the full NEBOSH National Health and Well-being Certificate.

Examinations take place in March and September. Study programmes are designed to lead towards these dates.

NEBOSH Health & Well-being Certificate

Tutorials are organised prior to each examination period and are an optional extra for all students. They provide an opportunity to revise and consolidate understanding.

The tutorials greatly assist those that need coaching in examination technique and will increase student confidence to complete the written examination and practical assessment, leading to higher success.
