We basked in glorious sunshine for the annual Sports day last week. With the school recently introducing its new House system, we had competitors from Carter, Cavell, Fry and Kett worked tirelessly representing their House in an effort to bring home the Overall Winner’s trophy! The support for each house was second to none, as all students and staff embraced the new system and really got into the swing of things.

Some excellent individual performances from many of our students made for some fantastic viewing. Record Breakers include:

Year 7: Ellie Foster – Fry - 800m, 2.46m (record stood from 2013); Tom Mackay – Carter – Hurdles, 13.81s (record stood from 2011).

Year 8: Liam Chipperfield – Cavell - High Jump, 1.57m (record stood from 2005); Liam Chipperfield – again - Long Jump, 5.00m (record stood from 1986!); Abi Foster – Kett - 800m, 2.40m (record stood from 1980!); Jack White – Fry - 800m, 2.24m (record stood from 2003).

Year 9: Lisa McArdle – Fry - High Jump, 1.40m (record stood from 1999); Lauren Bradfield – Kett – Hurdles, 13.47s (record stood from 1978!)

Year 10: Jasper Bushby-Edwards – Fry - Long Jump, 5.35m (record stood from 2003); Tia Grauwiler – Cavell – Discus, 21.86m (record stood from 1983!); Emma Jones – Cavell - 800m, 2.43m (record stood from 1996); Emma Jones – again - 400m, 1.11.0m (record stood from 1979!)

After some really close competition between the four Houses, Fry were the named the inaugural overall winning House.

Congratulations and well done to all.
