Postdoc Corner Notre Dame Postdoc to Fisher Endowed Chair Prof. Mary Sajini Devadas, Assistant Professor of Chemistry, awarded Fisher Endowed Chair at the Towson University. Prof. Devadas joined the faculty of Chemistry at Towson in August 2015. Dr. Devadas earned her Ph.D. in chemistry from Western Michigan University in 2012. She holds bachelors and master's degrees from the PSGR Krishnammal College for Women and another master's degree from Bharathiar University, all in chemistry. Before joining Towson University, Dr. Devadas was a postdoctoral associate at the University of Notre Dame from 2012 to 2015. Dr. Devadas teaches general chemistry, inorganic chemistry, and a graduate physics course in nanotechnology. She has supervised nineteen Towson students in special problems, introduction to research, applied physics research, Honors independent study, Honors thesis, and physics thesis, and has also supervised 5 local high school students. Dr. Devadas has published three papers since joining Towson, one of which is co- authored by a TU graduate student. She has been active in seeking extramural funding, and is a member of the team that recently secured a $530,000 grant from the National Science Foundation to acquire a scanning electron microscope. Dr. Devadas synthesizes and studies single metal nanoparticles. For her Fisher Chair project, she will create nanoparticle-based functionalized metal- graphene oxide thin films with the aim of detecting very small amounts of chemical warfare agents. She foresees engaging 24 undergraduates, three master's students and six high school students in the program, and
