• Meant to improve library service by strengthening libraries
• Program started in 1986, by concerned librarians across the state
• Gives libraries a set of standards to work toward
Why be Accredited?
• Eligible for federal aid• Eligible for state aid• Eligible to apply for Library Improvement
Grants, Youth Grants, and Continuing Education Grants

To Be AccreditedInitially• The Commission will send
you a letter around July 15
• You go through the list of requirements.
• If you have met the requirements, send in the application by Sept. 1.

you a letter around July 15
