NAWBO MA is the Massachusetts Chapter of the NationalAssociation of Women Business Owners (NAWBO), which boastsover 7,000 members and 70 chapters across the country; wasfounded in 1975 to serve as the unified voice of America’s morethan 10 million women-owned businesses representing the fastestgrowing segment of the economy. NAWBO MA is designed to assistany woman business owner, executive or aspiring entrepreneur toexcel professionally by achieving a real life work balance. Today, women-owned firms have an economic impact of $3 trillionannually that translates into the creation and/or maintenance ofmore than 23 million jobs - 16 percent of all U.S. jobs! NAWBO MA MEMBERSHIP

NAWBO MA seeks to greatly reduce the barrier to entry and leverage the growth of membership and encourage diversity by offering an economicalmonthly payment plan. All membership plans activate membership with the state chapter immediately. Members who choose to pay their annualmembership dues in one lump sum are also submitted for membership with the national organization and national membership is activated within30 days of joining. Members who choose to join the state chapter on a monthly installment plan are submitted for membership with the nationalorganization only after their 12th payment and are accessed an additional annual fee of $50 for utilizing the monthly plan.

LOCAL LUMINARIES

It is an important part of our mission to become an integralcornerstone and resource to women business owners and leadersright within their very own communities and neighborhoods.

Our Local Luminaries represent four neighborhoods each, in whichthey have an influence and are recognized as leaders. They host aweekly ‘Light Event’ in one of their assigned communities per week,allowing each neighborhood to have a local event in their ownbackyard at least once a month. As a representative of NAWBO MAour Local Luminaries are delegated the authority to organize eventsthat are relevant to the communities in their region and to serve asa resource to members in their immediate area. Local Luminariesalso bring attention to the state office of members within their areathat are remarkable and may be a fit for state programming, onlinehighlights, or larger opportunities with which NAWBO MA may beable to provide or assist in attaining. Their greatest responsibility isto continually drive membership for the state organization.

WHAT IS A LOCAL LUMINARY?

Five hundred ofMassachusetts’ leading women business owners, partners, executives, aspiringentrepreneurs and investors will be our guests at the launch celebration. Our motivational and inspiring keynote address entitled “No Excuses! Think Big! Create Greatness!” will be delivered by, America’s Life Coach, Mel Robbins.

Mel Robbins is a working mother of three and America’s Life Coach. She’s arelationship exert, syndicated radio host, author, columnist, lawyer and the co-founder of two companies: Advice for Living, Inc. and 2Market Media, LLCwhich develops and distributes personal improvement products and televisionprogramming with experts in the wellness, health, relationship and careercategories.

Mel is an expert at removing the mental crap that blocks people from achievingtheir dreams. Her tough love and grab-you-by-the-collar approach, makes forentertaining radio and TV. Mel started her career as a criminal defenseattorney. In 2001, she left law to start a coaching business.

In 2007, Mel signed on as a relationship expert with ABC to develop televisionshows and launched a daily call-in advice show on Sirius. In 2008, Mel becamea contributor to CNBC and monthly columnist for Success Magazine (1.5mmsubscribers). Upon arrival our members will enjoy tasty cocktails and deliciousappetizers while they peruse the exhibitor’s tables featuring thelatest in services, products and tools for today’s woman businessowners. They can also gather around one of our high-cocktailrounds which feature various table topics to get the buzz going.

Soon thereafter our members will be gently ushered into the GreatRoom that has been converted into the set of Connect, which will bebroadcast on NAWBO MA TV. Our members become a part of ourlive studio audience whilst digging into a sumptuous three-coursemeal. This is more like a big dinner party with fellow girlfriends whoare serious movers and shakers and your biggest cheerleaders!

The host begins with a brief segment with the CEO and mediapartner The Improper Bostonian to discuss exciting upcomingopportunities across the state. When we return from commercialbreak the host will introduce our guest expert, followed by theintroduction of three members who are doing somethingphenomenal based on the season’s theme.

The final segment of the show will include the presentation of themonth’s Trailblazer Award and a Q&A session with the members inthe audience. We will close with the audience favorite, when ourmembers vote for their favorite guest of the evening.
