Summer is gone, and our last race ofthe year is historyalso. The NavyDay Regatta thatwas held lastweekend turnedout to be a very

competitive race. We had aSpinnaker class with all of the boatsfinishing within three minutescorrected of each other over a nine-mile course. In fact, all of the boatsfrom all three classes finished within20 minutes of each other. This, inmy opinion, is real close racing andto top all this off, one of ourmembers got first in the PHRF classand another got a third, see the

results below. The race was startedby Oil Island Chaffee. We on Xsailhad a hard time finding the island asthe fog was so thick you could barelysee the bow of the boat. Good thingBecky is an excellent driver as shecame upon the island by shear skill.Trying to put on a race with no windand plenty of fog is a hard enough todo, but having no idea which weathermark to use was even harder as Icouldn’t see a thing. Thank God fora hand bearing compass and a winddirection indicator which helped meselect what I thought was a properupwind mark. Turned out that noone complained; in fact, they allenjoyed the course and thehospitality at the Club after the race. Thanks again to those members thathelped out in this endeavor.
