Navobi was founded in 1923, and is now part of the VanDrie Group, the largest global provider of veal. Navobi is an organization operating entirely independently within the VanDrie Group. Navobi produces calf milk replacer, in sacks as well as in bulk, and is the largest producer in the world. With a certified independent laboratory, Navobi production can be utilized for internal use by VanDrie Group companies and unrelated third-party customers.

The health of the calf is of the main goal at Navobi. To achieve this goal, an ultra-modern facility has been built in Staverden, in the municipality of Ermelo, Netherlands. To ensure the highest product quality, Navobi has implemented a sophisticated track and trace process that allows sampling and analysis of all raw ingredients and their correlation with the final product.

Project Goals

TrakSYSTM Solution Approach

The cost for the production of calf milk replacer depends primarily on the raw materials used and electricity costs. Raw material prices have increased significantly over the years, and will continue to do so. Therefore, in order to be a low-cost but high-quality producer, it is important to manage the raw materials consumption by improving dosing accuracy and identifying all factors that can adversely affect the process reliability and efficiency.

Parsec Partner, CGI Netherlands, as part of their Manufacturing Atlas solution methodology, focused on improving the manufacturing operations of their customers like Navobi. In close collaboration with the client, CGI combined their in-depth knowledge of the calf milk powder batch processing at Navobi and the capabilities of the TrakSYS™ solution platform to define the requirements for the project.

The first step was to create an interface with the existing solution CGI had delivered for batch execution. Then, CGI developed the required TrakSYS™ dashboards to deliver the defined functionality focused on meeting the stated project goals.
