Message from the President

I want to congratulate the entire Navigon family on a great first six months of 2010! As an agency, we finished mid-year at 104% of our objective. That objective was an increase of $500,000 over prior year by Penn Mutual, so all of you are to be congratulated on a great team effort!

From an individual standpoint, many of you are ahead of prior year and ahead of your own personal goals; I want to congratulate each one of you in regard to your performance year-to-date!!

For others of you, it's time to sit back and assess how to approach the final six months of the year to get back on time.

In golf the third round is considered "moving day". It's when players make their move to get into contention to win the tournament. In our business the third quarter is really the "moving quarter". It's the time that you can make your move to position yourself to reach and obtain your own personal goals and objectives.

As we enter the third quarter, good luck to each of you on making that move to reach and obtain your personal goals and objectives and continuing to provide the services and products for your clients that they need.

Again congratulations to everyone on a job well done through the end of June.

Sincerely,

Graham “It's the time that you can make your move to position yourself to reach and obtain your own personal goals and objectives.”

All of you know someone, maybe someone in your family, or a friend or business acquaintance, that currently has a need for a significant amount of care as a result of an illness or accident.

The care may eventually be at a nursing home, but all to often must first occur at home. Most families think they can help their loved one get dressed everyday, or assist with feeding them a meal, help them get in and out of bed and do all of the other things they can no longer do themselves. But, they realize at some point that the required amount of care doesn’t end and the family wears down physically, emotionally and financially.

It is an unfortunate, yet a very real life situation that requires a great deal of strength, commitment and financial resource. Not everyone has this kind of strength and its nothing to be apologetic about. Fewer have the necessary resources and run through what they have too quickly, even with good medical coverage.

About 5 years ago, an auto accident caused someone in my family to need this kind of care and there was no long-term care coverage and no permanent life insurance to the family to fall back on.

Medical insurance didn’t cover all the things that needed to be done. For example, there was the cost of building a 1st floor bedroom and bathroom to make the living quarters wheelchair assessable. The auto insurance reimbursement for the damaged car didn’t approach what it cost to buy a handicapped van. Then there were the emotional costs of having to care for someone who was strong as a bull just a short time ago. Now, someone needs to be there much of the time during working hours. Early retirement for the spouse is just out of the question, since continued health insurance is critical. A safety net, some additional source of money would have been comforting.

Later this year, Penn Mutual will be introducing a Chronic Illness/Cognitive Impairment Rider that will provide a safety net and piece of mind for those who purchase permanent life insurance coverage of the following policies:

•Flexible Choice Whole Life •Accumulation Builder II IUL•Diversified Growth Variable Universal Life •Guaranteed Protection Universal Life•Survivorship Plus Universal Life

(Rider can be exercised after the death of the first insured)

There is no cost for this Living Benefit, unless and until an acceleration of the death benefit is paid. It is not long-term care and should not be considered a substitute for a quality long-term care policy. But, if the insured’s condition qualifies and the policy sold is eligible, an amount of money can be there in the future, for whatever the need may be, including the addition to a home if that’s what is needed. The rider is another of the living benefits of a permanent life insurance policy, just as a partial withdrawal and/or a no questions asked loan can provide emergency cash or supplemental income. Withdrawals and loans will have less impact on policy values than exercising the chronic illness rider, but this new rider can be a critical source of funds, after careful consideration of its impact, when a loan or withdrawal just can’t meet the need.

And, if in-force customers of the policies shown above, request the rider, depending on state approvals and policy eligibility, they can add it too.

More details will be available later, but this rider is already approved by North Carolina and is another excellent reason to buy permanent coverage now from a financially strong mutual company like Penn Mutual.

“The Leader’s Conference was a wonderful mix of business and pleasure. The conference was a superb way to

recharge yourself both personally and professionally. Along with information sessions and networking with

colleagues, there was plenty of time for fun and relaxation. All of the details of the conference were organized so you

could enjoy every aspect worry free. If you haven’t had the opportunity to experience a Leader’s Conference, I

encourage you to work toward the goal of attending. Work hard so you can see Mickey next year.”

Just a few thoughts to reiterate the importance of making club. Beside the obvious – if you’ve qualified for club you’ve made some good money - there are so many other attributes to mention. The first of which is camaraderie with other agents. Some of my closest contacts in the business are other agents whom I have seen year after year at club, for the last 25 years. You get to know them and their families and share time and commonalities. You realize that your struggles and successes are theirs as well. Secondly is education. The breakout sessions daily are filled with useful ideas and information that you can actually apply to your business when you return home. These sessions are hosted by the “best” in our company and the industry. Another great thing about PMLA is the trip itself. The locations and the hospitality are unbelievable. The dinners and parties are top notch, and the staff does a great job with organizing the events. If you love golf – let’s see…last year, Trump National. A couple of years ago, Kauai Lagoons! Need I say more? Lastly and most importantly, you get the opportunity to meet and really get to know the top management of Penn Mutual and HTK. You quickly realize the quality of people they are, from Bob Chappell and Michelle Barry on down. They do truly care about you and your success, and are committed to you as an agent and as a person. Attending these conferences and meetings, you do feel that you are part of a special company that is unique in our industry. So, I urge you to work hard and qualify for PMLA this year. Once you do, I doubt you will miss another one in the future!Happy Selling! Martin Hardy
