Navigation Guide

The main parts of the screen are highlighted below, including the buttons that you use to navigate through the course:

Page title: The title of the page you are currently viewing

Topic Title: The title of the topic you are currently viewing

Exit button: Closes the programme

Content area: This is where the text and images appear

Navigation menu: Allows you to choose a topic by clicking its title

Privacy statement: Explains the privacy policy for the programme

Terms of use: Explains how you may use this programme

Progress bar: Shows the total number of pages and which page you are currently viewing

Next and Back buttons: Allow you to navigate forward and back through the programme

Bookmarking

If you exit the course, the next time you return you’ll see a Resume Topic button on the launch screen. Clicking this button will take you back to the page that you exited from. If you want to start again from the beginning, you can click Enter Topic.

Audio Controls for Screens with Narration Screens that include audio narration will have the following audio controls:

Audio On/Off: Click to turn off the audio. A line is shown through the button indicating that the audio is off. Click the button again to turn on the audio.

Play/Pause: Click to pause the audio. The button changes to an arrowhead, which you can click to recommence playing the audio.

Replay: Click to restart the audio from the beginning.

Progress bar: Indicates how much of the audio you have listened to.

Content

The content area consists of either text and images, or questions.

Many screens include ‘interactive’ elements, such as images, buttons or tabs that you can click to reveal more information:

There are also some buttons that you don’t have to click; you can simply roll your mouse over them to reveal information:

There may be links within the text that will open other websites. These will be shown as blue text:

Scenarios On some screens the content describes a scenario highlighting some important points. The scenario is displayed in several parts and there are buttons that you use to navigate through the content. Just follow the instructions on the screen until you get to the end:

Questions

On question screens, you select your answer(s) and then click the Submit button to find out if you have chosen correctly:

There are also ‘drag and drop’ questions where you use your mouse to move some elements so that they match with other elements:

Additional Resources Icons

Some screens include Show Me buttons that link to different types of resources. The purpose of these resources is to demonstrate, expand on or exemplify the concepts or approaches discussed in the course. There are five different types of resources:

Resource type Button Description of resource

How To

These are mainly Word documents, presentations or videos created by Microsoft that illustrate how to do something that is described in the course.

A Lesson Plan

These are sample completed lesson plans, usually Word documents.

A Template

These are templates that you can modify yourself, for example a table that you can use to create your own lesson plan.

An Example

These are animations or videos showing snapshots of what can be created with a particular ICT tool discussed in the course.

In Practice

These are mainly videos, but also PDFs and Word documents, showing real-life situations and case studies of teachers using ICT in a classroom setting.
