The single-ring ceremony was performed by Rev. Dale Books pastor of a small federated church in Vermont, and a friend and fellow back- packer of the bride and bridegroom. The marriage service had been composed by the bride and bridegroom, both of whom wore informal dress, as did the guests, mostly college friends of the couple and fellow nature- enthusiasts. The colorful autumn woods around the lake formed the background and music was the song of birds and autumn breezes in the trees. The couple was unattended.
