The Gambling harm workforce are a unique and growing group of people, tasked with actively preventing and
minimising gambling harm across New Zealand. The range of skills and expertise are broad and diverse and
therefore, the need for support that encourages the demonstration of leadership through innovation, integration
and motivation will be key to enhancing workforce capacity during this national forum.
The application of the theme over the three days will embody this Whakatauki:
'Haere taka mua, taka muri - Kaua e whai!'
Be a leader not a follower
As the workforce actively prevents and minimises gambling harm in Aotearoa there are times when leadership is
required, the next few days will be enlightening and the agenda promises to inspire and invigorate principles of best
practice.

Topic The First Randomised Clinical Trial of a Gambling Intervention in New Zealand
Description
Introduction of New Zealand’s national clinical trial testing the effectiveness of two gambling interventions in a face to face setting including an overview of the clinical trial, collaboration between AUT and Oasis and case studies on the two treatment approaches.

The Ministry and gambling harm sector have committed to reporting on progress towards achieving outcomes in the Strategy to Prevent and Minimise Gambling Harm 2016/17 to 2019/19. This presentation outlines the new approach being taken to outcomes reporting, the timeline for the new outcomes report, and provides an opportunity for questions and comments.
