Scenario Summary

Adams County 911 center begins to receive multiple phone calls reporting an anhydrous ammonia rail car leaking near the Suncor refinery. Railroad individuals report the vapor cloud is lingering into the Suncor Plant area.

The FD confirmed that the rail car was carrying anhydrous ammonia. Calm winds cause the chemical to remain in and around the Suncor area. Immediate requested to have local Haz-Mat Teams and US EPA resources respond to the scene to assist.

Two damaged oil tanks and crude oil spilled in the direction of Sandy Creek. Approximately 400,000 barrels of crude oil is spilled.
